Wilder sacked

Not anymore as finally we have acted we were going nowhere with a toxic club like this.

I was worried but we’ve acted
Until we get a decent rudder to pilot what seems to be a flailing ship I will remain concerned - worried that we will make the wrong decision yet again but only this time it could prove very costly.

I agree but let’s be honest mate it wasn’t good was it we were only heading one way the club had been toxic for weeks If we’re honest.

Now hopefully we can go again and try and use all the clubs assets that wasn’t the case before.

Surely the entire club is now set up to appoint a head coach who knows part of his remit is to work with the players the club provide him with?
Exactly.

I don't think it'll happen, but if we appointed Dyche we might as well give up now, it'll prove Gibson has learnt nothing.

Something was clearly was off behind the scenes with Wilder, but he was the right "type" of coach. Albeit probably a bit of an issue around type of players he was willing to work with.

Let's not throw the baby out with the bathwater. The long term plan is to recruit players to play a modern front foot style surely? And we need a coach who wants to play that way. Doesn't mean they need to be wedded to a specific formation or anything. But the philosophy needs to match the recruitment.

Not sure who the answer is, but pretty sure it's not Dyche. Or Steve Bruce or anyone in that mould.

Was told by a friend two weeks ago that Wilder had lost the dressing room and was generally disliked at the club.
He'd been to a gig in Sheffield called the 'Are You With Me' tour, and the shows 'host' told him in a little meet and greet that he's still in contact with Boro players who tell him what the score is at the club.
Also said Wilder had offered his services to the club if the present incumbent was relieved of his duties.

Completely not like my friend to bullshyt and I'd believe what he's said.
He might have been feeding my mate a line, but there you go.

one or two very good performances in amongst a lot of dire ones suggests it's more a psychological thing.. (motivation was there for the Sunderland game because it was special), indicates not playing well because unhappy with the boss. So, there is the potential to turn things around very quickly if the next boss can change the mindset, and they will. Personality is so important to inspire a team, Verbal bullying doesn't work unless you're Ferguson and able to frighten the sh*t out of players.
Let's hope we get in someone with the right personality and ability to really motivate. It became quite clear that CW wasn't right for this team.

Losing away to a team that hadn’t won at home all season was the final nail 🤣

On a more serious note there are slim pickings available to replace him who I’d actually fancy.

Still - The Elephant remains.

Not impressed.
Roofie when it comes out as it will that chris was absolutely toxic around the club are you still going to blame the merry-go-round.

Managers usually get a bit more slack from Gibson.
I guess he wouldn't be liking what he's been hearing.
That and maybe there is truth in the rumours that Wilder has been somewhat disloyal.

I did try and tell you all.

It was obvious he had lost the players, was losing the fans and you would imagine, given all the talk about off the field issues, had lost some of Gibson's confidence and trust.

You only need to look at the form of the last 20 games or so, some of the defeats we've endured have been embarrassing, but for me, that team selection on Saturday was the final straw.

His constant throwing of players under the bus won't have helped either.

It's all good talking about 'long term projects' but when was the last time you could say you felt Wilder was fully invested in that project? Criticising the recruitment, the players, I'm sure he had a dig at the fans recently too.

He had a really good first few months, with some noticable highlights and we played some of the best football I've seen us play. But that all feels like a long time ago now, and he hasn't even been here 12 months. Talk of will we get a better manager than Wilder, who, the guy who has lead us to our worst start to a season outside the top division?

Pressure now focuses on Gibson and co to find a suitable replacement, I just hope they can convey the message that they clearly failed to with Wilder regarding recruitment.

Scott will undoubtedly have a list of managers under consideration. And has no doubt had that list for some time. A list of managers that fit the Middlesbrough philosophy. Like another poster mentioned, a manager happy to work with the players that the recruitment team deem suitable for our style and identity as a club.
The manager becomes the interchangeable cog in the machine to avoid massive rebuilds bringing in players that ultimately only work in a certain type of style of play, particular to a particular manager
Dyche doesn't fit our philosophy so managers of that ilk won't be coming anywhere near our club. Wouldn't be Suprised if we got a relatively unknown (but previously successful) manager from europe.

Yep this is the way we are going, but we also said that when Woodgate was appointed. Granted we were in dire straights when he was sacked and we needed an old head to steady the ship.

Wasn't there talk of us trying to emulate the Ajax system.
