Wilder eyeing second spot

He will get promotion there.
He has a team full of players who were in the worlds best league not too long ago.
And this is not the world's best league.
In fact he would be a totally useless manager if he didnt get promoted with that squad.
Like Garry Monk, Tony Pulis, or Chris Wi...........
Oh!
I think I just blew out my own argument.
Watford are going nowhere are they.

He avoided saying attitude over ability but did say they need to run around a lot. I don't think the Watford squad will click with him. Will be like Nathan Jones at Stoke and Southampton I think.

...and Harry Potter at Chelsea (y)

No joke. Hopefully the EFL drug testing team are on route.
Top two isn't done and dusted, but it is for Watford.

Not sure if he's on drugs or whether he's planning to drug up their players.

It's extremely difficult for us to get 2nd, who are in form, never mind a team sat in 10th, 9 points behind us and 6 other teams between them and us.

If they win every game that's 84 points, that might be enough but 11 on the bounce? No way.

Sheff utd have 6 home games, if they win all of those and lose all way games that's 85 points, and only a 1.6ppg average. They've averaged 1.9 up to now.

Every team in the top 6, is in the top 6 on form, over the last 10 games. Their form in last 10 had them 12th.

They're an underperforming side, but he'll do well to make the playoffs.

He's actually targeting the play-offs. It's only 11 games so he will be focused on that and won't be looking at what other jobs are going. I think there will be a new manger bounce and with the fixtures they have got I fully expect Watford to make the play-offs now.

2nd isn't done and dusted.

Given he literally mentions lifting the play-off trophy in that same paragraph, he's clearly on about other teams.

You may have a point if it wasn't under a section called "on his targets".

It's an irrelevant sentence, if it's not talking specifically about his targets, and would have been edited out of the copy if it wasn't relevant to the question asked.

chris wilder mentions XG thats when everyone has to take a drink lol

I dont disagree with some of his points, he did not say he is looking to come second, he is saying its up for grabs, clearly not up for grabs by him and thats why he says he is lifting the trophy at wembely and not coming 2nd, so taking 2nd is taking him out of context slightly, although as a manager why would you rule it out if its mathematically possible when your job is to get as many points as your meant to do.

don't fear him, think he may do well there though as they have enough quality on the books to utilise, if we end up through the play offs and watford or any team take us out so be it we were not good enough, dont matter who does it all we can do is concentrate on ourselves.

however if we go up at his expense through the playoffs, that would be icing on the cake and a great way this story ends

When you look at and listen to our Manager - you see and hear a man who is calm and thoughtful. He looks after himself and carries himself in a professional manner. He doesnt need to blow his own trumpet and, if anything - he is more than humble and deserves all the praise he gets. Compare that to some other "managers"........I wonder what the Watford players are seeing and thinking?

what's he supposed to say, if something is possible he has to go for it and wont let his team think it don't matter and certainly is not going to publicly say they can't do it
as long as its a possibility its a target, realistically unachievable but if people expect a manager in his position to come out and go we are not good enough for that sorry then that is ridiculous lol

also if sections of a article says on his targets as you say, then I'm certain when he is interviewed they don't go right this section of questions is for the on your targets section of the article lol

that's just how someone's has wrote it up to catch peoples attention who are skimming through the document , it don't change what he has actually said (which is odds on selected quotes from an interview or presser he has just done)

Have you seen their fixtures? He's talking out of his ar$e for 2nd place but they've got every chance of challenging us for 3rd. They've got by far the easier run in out of everyone. I can easily see them winning 8 of their last 10 matches if they get the new manager bounce.

Under the targets section of the article. Not the ‘what he thinks of the rest of the league’ section.

Chris Wilder is not the one who wrote the article.

The club, especially a brutally ambitious club like Watford, are obviously not going to write off the mathematically possible.

It's an article written from an interview, without the exact interviewer questions included, they can spin it how they want to.

That does not read like a statement about Watford catching the top 2 to me, it reads as him highlighting that there are a lot of games left and that even automatic promotion isn't sewn up yet.

I'll hold my hands up if the actual interview comes out and he's clearly referring to Watford overcoming a 16 point gap and overtaking 8 teams to finish 2nd.

the Huddersfield game could be fun to watch  , certainly in the technical area, no love lost between them two :ROFLMAO:

I think he will do okay and will probably make the play offs hopefully we can get second as I would not fancy playing Watford in the play offs, but Sheff United vrs Watford in the play offs that would be interesting
