Southgate knows how good Maguire can be when he’s on-form. He gave him both games to instil some confidence in the lad hoping he could carry this on with United meaning he goes into the World Cup on top form.

Unfortunately this hasn’t worked, so surely Tomori drops into that position for the World Cup? Just a shame he hasn’t got much playing time with his team mates.
