Is the Government offering me a payment to get tested for Covid. Something not right about this.

I got asked to take part in testing, waiting for kit to arrive. No mention of payment as far as I paid attention To the letter before signing up.

50 quid for first visit then 25 each for a further 4 in the first month, and then once a month for a year.

I received a letter from the NHS weeks ago about being 'selected at random' to take part in testing. They said it was optional. Roughly 3 days later I received another letter with red writing saying I had 1 week to sign up online. I didn't fancy it as 'optional'.

The next thing I know I'm getting a text reminding me I still had time to sign up. Jesus talk about hassling me😂

If it was a test to see if I'd had it then I would. I was so ill at the end of Feb I'm convinced I've had it. Also interestingly in the last few days the government have said a side effect of covid is severe fatigue. I've definitely had real strange waves of fatigue that almost wipe me out whilst sat at home. So much so I read it was symptom of diabetes and went to doctors for a test that came back negative.

My wife and I signed up for the scheme also. Not for the vouchers, but it does seem a proactive step by the government despite the lack of tests for those that are asking for them.

Random testing in the population is how you arrive at an accurate infection rate.
