I think we understand your opinion by now.
Question for you. Why do you think Carrick hasn’t selected him?
You can’t say he has made a mistake, as you’ve no idea how Barlaser would have performed if started.
We didn’t fail against Cov purely because Mowatt played.
Barlaser might go on to be what you think he is. I hope so.

Honestly... And this is totally opinion, I'm not Carrick's confidant but I can't shake the worry that he has gotten risk adverse.

We have a very nice system in offense we switch to a back 3 and defence back to a 4. It fights the counter fairly efficiently for the advantage of potent attacks.

Barlaser for sure can do that role (as in being the guy who comes into the back 3 on attack) as can Hackney.

So why Mowatt? Jitters plain and simple, the belief that he's more 'solid' (From Carrick), the exact same thing can be seen with Gareth Southgate a man that as a person I find a very decent human being.

The issue then with Mowatt is he slows play down and isn't a natural creative player.

Our attacking play clearly suffered, ironically our possession stats show the change. We start having the ball much more because we're playing without pace and penetration.

So that's my take, that's why he played Mowatt in my opinion.

Maybe I am wrong but weren't most of his assists at Rotherham from corners. His corners for us have been woeful.

Jury's still out on him for me, but I was surprised a) Mowatt was ahead of him in the pecking order (suggests he hasn't impressed that much) and b) he was brought onto save our season with 30 mins to go having barely been involved prior to that

Well I’d suggest possibly 1 of Howson or Hackney, you free the other to concentrate more on opening teams up. That may even bring Barlaser more into play, without maybe having him as a luxury player.

He's not a luxury player he is a ball winning midfielder, look at the video I posted.

The point was that the role of having a Boatend style player doesn't work for the style we want to play... It's exactly what we don't need.

Did I say Boateng? I mentioned Fletcher, who was athletic, but could also play the ball. However, I would like to see some beef, streetwise sh@thousery in midfield. I think we are a bit naive at times and too nice.

League One is his level. We've moved on from plodders like Morsy. Thankfully we actually have midfielders now who can play football, like Hackney for example.
