Why do young English players flatter to deceive - solankie

I’ve read this stat and given the huge fees that top flight clubs have spent on him it makes it all the more staggering.

Dominic Solanke has netted only one goal in 57 Premier League appearances.

As a Bournemouth player, he has failed to score from all 30 shot attempts.”

how much money will he be in as well.

Solanke signed for fellow Premier League club AFC Bournemouth on 4 January 2019 on a long-term contract for an undisclosed fee, reported by BBC Sport as £19 million.

19 million!!!

Because fans and media get disproportionately excited at the hint of any promise from an English youngster. Largely because there are hardly any Englishmen playing for the better teams in the PL.

Or is it the case of too much, too young they think they’ve “made it”.
Could be.

I’ve had many a debate on here about Foden. It’s not that I don’t like him or want him to fail, but I really hate the billing he’s received when, in reality, he can’t get in Man City’s team at the age of 20 (7 career PL starts). Too much hype for a young lad who is yet to come anywhere close to proving himself. If he does make a spot his own, despite all the hype and all the money he’ll have earned without having had to really do much yet, he’ll have done exceptionally well, but next season is massive for him. It could easily go either way.

As soon as Silva is gone then that place is his to lose. Pep wouldn't even entertain the idea of him going out on loan as he believed he would be better off around the first team squad.

But like you say I'll reserve judgement until a full starting season under his belt.

The biggest giveaway is why do foreign clubs hardly ever come for English players (today). Young players who have achieved next to nothing are valued at ridiculous prices due to being English. It’s also why a lot of teams decide against a young player demanding a big wage packet vs say an Eastern European... tend to have better skill set, control, passing ability and a fraction of the price

"flatter to deceive"

To be honest, I don't really know what this term means.
Football has always been full of promising youngsters who don't quite live up to early promise.
Are English footballers worse, or are we just more familiar with the English players who don't quite make it?

One change I've noticed is in transfer fees. A talented youngster now costs a bigger fee than a player in his prime. I think the reasoning is that, even if you sell the youngster, you'll get a big chunk of fee back. A player in his prime will depreciate in value more.

Solanke is *****. Foden is quality and will have a great season next year and walk into the England squad for the Euros.

Lots of young English players have done well and progressed to the national team in recent years.
The problem lies with the money in the premier league. A player shows a bit of promise and teams are happy to gamble vast sums on them. It's not the players themselves, all over the world there'll be young players who don't live up to early promise, it's just that elsewhere they don't end up having £20m spent on them.

Another impact of the ridiculous fees and wages is that they often end up hanging around the reserves or only making the odd sub appearance instead of going out to a club where they get a regular game. Half a season in Dutch football is hardly going to prepare him for the premier league.

He was probably used to the best of everything, completely pampered as a pro athlete then suddenly you're at a small club like Bournemouth, you no longer have worked class players as team mates, in a relegation scrap and you're expected to be the main man. Can't help the development of these players being thrust into situations like that.

He'd probably be best off dropping down a league and learning. But clubs can't afford his wages. Obviously looking like it'll happen with Bournemouth but I expect they'll be desperate to get rid if they can.

Remember when Lewis Baker was going to be the next Frank Lampard? Can only assume they don't tackle you in the Netherlands as he seemed surprised every time it happened to him.

Think this highlights how much money Eddie Howe has blown on absolute dross. Done better when he wasn't afforded much. Will scare any big teams off him.

As for solanke, he's bang average. But not all young English players flatter, look at Sancho.....destined for the very top that lad.
