Why did qpr let him go?

I've never overly bothered about 'losing pace'. Ayala never really had any and you look at some one like Morrison at Cardiff. He's slow as feck but a top champo CB.

Now that Ayala has left I'd imagine if another clubs fans asked about him some would say 'injury prone and is all arms and a penalty waiting to happen'.

The fact is we would be a better side with him. We look like we've replaced him for free and I'd imagine less wages.

It's a decent start to the window👍
Agree as I believe defenders play with their brain and brawn . The wing back thing is great if your Barca or City , and you’ve got silly money . Give me an old fashioned stopper any day .

Hopefully get Gibson in alongside him. He never shuts up and still a very decent champo CB (if fit....after 18 months off😂).

I guess the question is does Warnock want gibbo? . He was clearly wanted by woody but may feel the large loan or wage fee could be used elsewhere. That said he's been training with us since Feb so must have seen plenty of him.

I recall when Warnock was managing QPR, they won 3-0 at the Riverside playing with 3 at the back.
3 seemingly lumbering, immobile lumps - Clint Hill, Fitz Hall and Danny Shi++u.
But that team went up as champions. Best GA and best GD

Is he still training with us?!

6 foot 2, eyes of blue, Stuey Boam is after you

😇

Hugill before Moore for me with Cauley Woodrow along side him / playing off him,
Hugill is on £36k per week which we won't pay anywhere near .

Still the oddest thing, as others have said, surely he'll be better off at a place that could match his demands for brass

Hall had serious problems with his knee in 2017 and 2018 which is why he missed a lot of games in 2017/8 and 2018/19. He played 30 league games last season.

Hugill before Moore for me too. Hugill did get 15 goals last season. I suspect WHU would accept £2m - they are not going to play him in the Premiership and they are even paying around half his wages when he goes out on loan. The issue is would Hugill take a pay cut for a longer term contract. No one in the Championship is going to pay say £35k a week in the current climate.

He had the same tendonitis injury that finished Owen Hargreaves career. Was out best part of 18 months due to this.....so theres 70 games ish he's missed. Not like he's missing every Feb-March with a mystery ankle injury......

Don't know how good he his, but does seem to be the right type of signing.

Why do some supporters automatically assume players who frequently get injured are swinging the lead. UTB

I think in ayalas case it was down to the club pretty much Coming out and saying that he was, remember the our medics can’t find a reason line... but he’s still says he’s in pain etc.

Warnock said at the press conference before that QPR game that it is expected Hugill will be going for a big transfer fee this summer.

To me £4m in the Championship will be big this season. Most teams will not spend that on one player, like us last season when £1.25m was our limit.

Will WHU still want Hugill next season ? Premiership clubs have to be more careful with money too and he is costing them around £1.75m in wages a year.

Football never ceases to surprise me but erm, I'd be surprised.

He's a decent championship striker. Works hard, puts himself about, strong. But he's got no pace, his technique and finishing are distinctly average. He's also no youngster any more.

Can't see anything about him that would command a big fee. Preston had West Ham's eyes out. Still as long as it's not us paying it, great.

I expect Hugill to go for £3-4m but he is on £36k per week at WHU, which rules us out. He almost signed for Wigan for £4m but wouldn't accept a wage cut from £36k to £18k , which is a shame for Wigan , as he would have scored the goals to keep them in the championship . I expect QPR to get him on loan again when they sell Eze .
