Why are People Stockpiling Toilet Paper?

This is the scene at my supermarket this afternoon on the loo roll aisle. WTF. There is NO shortage.

Is an example of panic behaviour. It makes no sense

An example of herd mentality and as Small Town says the intense media coverage is sparking the panic. Just come back from Waitrose. Can’t buy a roll at the moment and if I see someone with more than one large family bag in their trolley will say something
uncomplimentary.

Its ridiculous. Face masks sold out, but they do b***r all against Covid 19. Bog roll sold out when its not a s***ing disease. Saw some daft sod in the supermarket today fretting about no hand sanitizer, while stood in the soap aisle. Absolute t*t.

There does seem to be a lack of education. A lot of people going for anti bacterial stuff. Not quite realising it's a virus. TBF face masks DO help stop the spread of the disease. You're much less likely to pass it on if you're a carrier and wear a mask.

True, but only N95 masks have any effect on prevention.

Not all anti bacterial gels contain alcohol though. It's really irritating me now, we've genuinely ran out of normal hand wash in the kitchen yet due to idiots I now can't buy any. Luckily, again due to ignorance probably, they have left the soap.

The masks are useless after about 30 minutes as they become moist with the breath you breathe out.

Basically panic buying is a stupid way to go about things. Also covid-19 is just mother nature doing a soft reset like you reset your internet router at home. Too many people on this planet as it is, a naturally occurring virus will makes those numbers lower.
Cruel thinking? Yes. But unless you hope yourself away in the middle of nowhere with ZERO contact with the outside world or its contents you WILL catch covid-19 this year.

Because the media did a great job on em.

Series of events - something like
Q ‘Will people panic buy - if so what’?
A. (From a source) ‘Toilet paper and pasta would be key if you self isolate
Someone is then seen stocking up
A shelf is then seen empty
Pictures emerge
Hey presto we have a shortage.

Funny - we didn’t have a bog roll shortage with the novovirus...

No it isn't. Hell you could be carrying it and only have mild symptoms similar to a heavy cold. Is every man and his dog now going to ring the NHS when they get the sniffles? Puts a daft amount of strain on an already struggling NHS.

I saw a tweet where someone said you can say COVID-19 like the song "come on eileen" and now I can't say it any other way
