Why are People Stockpiling Toilet Paper?

No I assumed another 10% of people would want home deliveries. Currently < 10% of groceries are home delivered so if even just 20% of people wanted home deliveries that would double the logistics requirements to fulfil it. I'm pretty sure Tesco et al utilise their warehouses/drivers/vans to near 100% so they would need to double the vans and drivers.

Does a doubling of the numbers ordering home delivery mean a doubling of logistical requirements?

No, it just fits the irrational argument people are posing for their panic. Less than 1% of people in China contracted C19. The behaviour of some people is beyond comprehension. They need to spend more of their time and money on things that might prevent the spread of C19 rather than stocking up for armageddon.

Just spread it all over. The only use for them was chucking them out of the Holgate.
Just watching Back In Time To The Corner Shop... I'd completely forgotten about bog paper and comb. Izal and Bronco did have another use.

"Medical advice for flu isn’t to self isolate for 2 weeks. Flu has visible symptoms"

It is more or less. Depends on the flu variant but the recommendation is to stay at home for at least one week to avoid infecting others (last time I had flu doing anything at all wasn't an option for several days). It takes about 4 days for symptoms to develop, but you're infections from the 3rd day.

So far influenza has killed way more people in the UK this flu season than Covid-19. Though I assume it won't stay like that for long (though you never know).

Guardian this afternoon ...

"There are hopes supermarket delivery services could ease tensions by getting supplies to those advised to self isolate and also avoid lots of people going to shops for their supplies, Vikram Dodd reports.

But on Monday morning they were buckling under the pressure.

Sainsburys had no delivery slots for the next three weeks, Ocado was closed to new customers and had introduced a “virtual queue” for existing customers and Waitrose was off line altogether."

... and we're only at the beginning.

No loo roll available in Morrisons today. I've started practicing handstands in the shower

This is the scene at my supermarket this afternoon on the loo roll aisle. WTF. There is NO shortage.

Is an example of panic behaviour. It makes no sense
Maybe because they have the intelligence of said bog roll?
