Who'd pay £19 for this?

Jamie Oliver thought he could get away with over charging for Pasta and failed. It's pasta regardless how you cook it.

I've had breakfast at the savoy, about 10 years ago and it was over £20 then.
A guy Sat down( not at my table btw) in pink silk pyjamas and pink fluffy slippers.
Strange place

i think the jamie oliver failure in part was trying to bring trendy chef cuisine to the masses, they over streched his empire...

people will pay over priced for exclusivity but they wont if its easily available and possibly no better than elsewhere..

those jamies resteraunts were just a chain that used his reputation but ended up almost destroying it...

my son worked in one and while they tried to associate it with him they failed miserably in quality...

To be honest if you go to a posh place owned by a famous chef it's gonna be a small portion and cost a fortune.

The only reason folk go is so they can stick pictures on FB or Instagram and get 'likes'. 'oh look at me buying a breakfast at a famous chefs gaff'

Feck off..... I'd rather go to a greasy spoon👍

Average food served at above average prices and the competition were better.
Classic failure

Everyone in this thread knows far well that they could produce a much better full English breakfast for the same amount of money or cheaper.

In a posh hotel the price Gordon has set works but take that to any high street cafe/greasy spoon and no way would you sell it.

Yeh there probably are £19 variants in the standard cafe/greasy spoon but I imagine the plate would like the below

No fried bread

Anyone who is shocked at this price has clearly never had a breakfast in a hotel before. This is pretty much par for the course.

I guess some people on here are of the "quantity over quality" mindset too

I agree with your first paragraph but regarding the second, there doesn't even look to be that much in the way of quality on that plate, to be fair.

I reckon all of the produce will be quality form a rare breed pigs and the eggs will be of the highest standard. The yolks tell me they are

I get that, but there's only so much quality that can go into a fried egg and a sausage, surely...

I mean there's pasta and pasta, I'd pay more for a pasta dish made with handmade pasta, with locally sourced artisan ingredients, but that will be a million miles away from what JO was serving.
