Who'd pay £19 for this?

Thought this was going to be another Gestede thread
Bravo.... Did make me chuckle😂👍

On the subject of the breakfast. God know as no beans and gash portions. He probably frowns on brown sauce.

You often can't beat a proper greasy spoon or truckers cafe for a massive fry up👍

Which reminds me of the story of Tom Kerridge’s fish and chips on the menu at the Corinthia Hotel. £32.50!,

I remember getting chips with something at a posh/pretentious restaurant and asking for vinegar. They sent me that fuggin balsamic shight, sent it back and they (to their credit) managed to find me some proper malt vinegar. Chips were very good to be fair, chunky and nicely cooked would have been a shame to have to eat them without salt AND vinegar.

It is a bit steep. The be paid £15 for a breakfast a couple of times, but I’d expect beans and sourdough at the least

Even crappy 4* hotels charge 15-16 quid not sure what surprise that a top place charges a little more
I don't think it's the price that has drawn the opprobrium more what's on the plate (what is that green thing?) and what isn't (where's the rest of it?)

Behave - balsamic is a must with chips, an absolute must
You just have a skanky palate ;)

Sold to fools and their money.

Its a funny one isn’t it
Fessing up here

In July I paid 24 euro for a glass of cognac
In fairness, I was staying in the City on the way home from a 3 week break and I’d spent next to nothing since lockdown.
It was gorgeous by the way and, as you do, I convinced myself it was value for money :)

Well that’s fair enough. Value is a personal thing. Me I couldn’t taste the difference between a good and bad cognac. Wine on the other hand.

The Savoy doesn't want people like you and me, so it's priced to keep the plebs out.

Nothing new here. Same thing has been going on for years wherever posh & rich people want to mingle with their own.

Fair enough surely?

To be honest though, most hotels over charge for their breakfast. The article I read about it suggested that it was mainly for hotel guests.

I stayed in a hotel in Vienna last year. Their hotel breakfast was £20, and it wasn't even as good as that Gordon Ramsey one!

Edit: It's a bit like 1st class on a plane (rather than business or economy). It's probably not worth it (IMO) but if you can afford it you do because you're lumped in with less people, and it's more exclusive. (I can't afford it BTW)!
