Who should take our penalties?

If he's on the pitch, Forss.

I love Akpom, and he's our best player now, but that should absolutely be his last penalty for us, they've alp been poor.

I think this is the latest tactic where the actual taker doesn't step up, rather a teammate does to take to pressure off them.

Not that the QPR players seemed to try and put Archer off, but anyway, point still applies
 
I did like Forss's at Blackpool. Laces through no dangers.

I think I'd have him on them and if he's not on the pitch Chuba.
 
We'll here's the strategy I'd employ in the near future, assuming the relevant players are on the pitch;



Chuba to step up like he's going to take it. Places it on the spot and retreats the distance. Believable as he's taken our last few and they're therefore the most likely ones that opposing keepers will have studied.

All the opposing players start their mind games with Chubes while their keeper gets into position.

Marcus "Never misses" Forss comes up at the last minute and whallops it goalwards, whilst Chuba stands behind him sticking his tongue out at the keeper.

Ball crashes into the back of the net, our fans start chanting "Ooo-hoo-hoo-hoo! Can you feel the Forss?"

Chuba makes me nervous on penalties too. He needs to own up to himself that they ain’t his thing for whatever reason 🤷‍♂️
Archer wanted it so I’d like to see him get a go.
We need someone who is ruthless and cool (leadbitter is our all time best penalty taker for me)

Just looks a bit 'casual'. I get that modern footballers roll them in. Yet I'm old fashioned and just think 'put a foot through it' as hard as they can.

I'd say Forss. That's based on his one pen for us. No messing around. Just hit it hard 👍

That said going by the Boro pens at Old Trafford. Plenty can dispatch them. Howson and Fry didn't feck about.

No no. A good penalty is a thing is nerve and skill. I hate seeing players blast them, I think it’s a cop out and turns it into a 50/50 with the keeper…
Firm and wide preferably 2-3 feet off the ground is the perfect penalty

I love seeing players like Zidane and Boksic passing the ball into the roof/side netting in the top corner of the goal.

Has anyone watched a pro team practice them with no pressure on them? I assume they'd be able to knock a fair few in no bother?

That said, I'm always amazed how poor professional sportsmen are at free kicks.

Can't be that hard, top bin tekkers, piece of pïśś.
 
Chuba either needs to practise more or give up. Yesterday's was rank awful. I could read which side he was going and it wasn't hard enough nor wide enough to make up for the easy read.
 
There was not a chance that Archer was taking that penalty. If you watched what happened; he took the grief while Akpom took himself away from the situation to get ready to take it.

It was a bad penalty but we ended up scoring and I can imagine he won’t do that again. Every good striker takes a bad penalty now and again.

He’s missed 7 in 20 taken. That’s more than 1 in 3.
 
Hopefully Chuba watches his last few penalties and realises this. Does some practice and is more confident next time and we can try and forget about his misses. However if he misses the next one, hopefully Carrick will have a word and let Forss or Archer become the designated penalty taker.

He's missed the last 2, both under Carrick.

The one he scored under Leo was rubbish and snuck in.

He shouldn't be taking them.

Doesn't make him any less important to us, it just means that somebody is better at taking penalties than him.
