Who next through the door

I agree that Rhodes and Hugill weren't used to best advantage, but it's just the idea of bringing players back again. It never seems to work out.
That would would also exclude Gibson. Also he might get stick for being the owner's nephew. Before he always played well enough to fend it off, in a team that was doing well, but this time around might be more exposed.
We under used Rhodes, but he was the wrong player to sign, he doesn't have the quality for a top side and never did. I know his goal return was good, but he needs top players to create those chances, and you are playing with 10 men for much of the time.
You think. Spence will go?
No, but I don't think he will be a nailed on starter. He would do well to get another 25 games particularly since his final ball isn't good enough on the wing, and his defending needs improvement. His best role right now is wing back, but I don't thin that Warnock will play that unless he has to

If Spence is a weak defender he may not necessarily 'grow' ; also he may start pining for London when offers come. One to sell.

Will there be a signing tomorrow do you think?
NW back and putting the finishing touches to a deal or two?
The 4 targets he identified, Hall,Moore but who are the other two? Any ITK info?

I'm surprised we haven't heard anything about the out of contract players yet (specifically Friend and Johnson). I thought if they were going to sign they would have wrapped it up and announced it hy now, or are they off on their jollies and any talks will be next week?

there are no guarantees that he can become better at defending, but it does happen. He's only 18. Friend was about 23 when we bought him and wasn't particularly great at stopping wingers crosses, but he improved.

I don't buy the whole London thing. It's his career, in the modern world professionals go here the work is.

I think he'd do well in the second division, less pressure and media attention on him, less likely to be dropped when he has a rick in him.

Me too. He would relish a chance at being a no 1 in this league. All he wants to do is play, if the wages are affordable I would go for it.

Looking to talk to Tyler Blackett- left back out of contract at Reading
He's a big lad for a fullback, 6 foot 2 or 3. The pros of that are that extra height from a defending corners perspective, you gotta survive about 350 corners in a season, so it would be a big bonus. But personally I'm always concerned that tall fullbacks have a high centre of balance, which means tricky wingers can turn them. He's one of those players that seems to have inspector gadget legs, which is annoying for attackers.

He is one of those ex-Man Utd academy graduates that hasn't ever quite fulfilled his early promise, but you would think he has some footballing intelligence after years training up there. Plenty of championship experience too and I think he is mates with McNair, they were in the youth teams together.

He could cover CB or LCB in a back 3 too, he's a specialist LB who is comfortable at CB which never hurts. I'm sure he would be a better option than what we had this season at LB

inspector gadget legs

made me smile :)

Would be happy with Blackett. The fact he is use full in a 4 at the back in 2 positions and can play LCB in a back 3 is great for us really. Hopefully there is some legs in this rumour.
Never heard of any of these players mentioned, or the bloke we signed but you do get a general good feel of the type of player he is by reading various comments on here, he sounds as though he ticks the boxes 👍

😇

He is a good athletic player mate, up and down the pitch when he plays LB and ‘dangly’ legs. Cultured left foot. Fits the bill really and very much a solid defender so is exactly what Warnock is looking for you would think

I think two of our stronger and certainly more promising players are Coulson and Spence. They are agile forward looking full backs, better in back 5 I think. I think it makes a lot of sense to buy a different type of fullback. Then you can stick the agile fella in front of him, and defend narrowly if you want to be solid, or play Spence at RB for a more attacking outlook.
Not sure that Warnock sees either Spence or Coulson as a full back though.

I also like the idea of having versatile players. If you spend a lot of money on an academy you need to leave space in the team to give youngsters an opportunity. Having players able to play in a variety of different positions is imperative with a small squad so you don't end up relying on youngsters too much.
