Who is the most tav like player in the academy

As the way I see it we have two options this season, we either remove the need for a player like tav in our formation or we look to see who is the most similar.

So in option 2 who from our young crop would people say most has the attributed we first saw in young Marcus.
 
Took Tav about 2/3 seasons to nail down a starting place. He was very raw when he first came through (and played mostly out wide).

It obviously happens, but it's rare for an academy player to come in and be a key player immediately.

Although I think given the lack of midfield options, you'd hope one or two might be getting some minutes here and there if they have the potential. Can hardly do much worse.
 
I think we need to get over losing Tav, players with that energy and drive are hard to come by and we were lucky enough to get him from the academy.

Tav was quite a rare breed these days I think. Primarily an attacking player he had an incredible workrate and was pretty good without the ball.

I think Wilder's ideal in the midfield three would be two "tavs" either side of a more defensive presence.

Luongo may fit the bill for the defensive presence, Howson and McGree alongside?

I like Crooks but he's too static to play one of the box-to-box roles effectively in my opinion.
 
However Crooks does offer the most goal threat, so likely to keep his place I think. Got to get some legs in there somehow if we're persisting with this formation that's for sure.

He *did*, not sure we've seen much evidence this season.

If we had a more mobile midfield who were better without the ball we could ask Crooks to get forward more but it's tricky at present without over exposing the other two CMs.
 
Crooks was great when Tav was there doing the running for 3 (see also Howson) we now have a major problem and no obvious solution aside from changing formation to fit the players we have. I’m sure we’ll be looking for a tavesque player but may not get one soon. If we had an alternative RB it would surely be worth pushing Jones further up in the same way Bale was moved forward by Spurs?
 
Trying to find a Tav replacement, someone who contributes to multiple aspects of the game from midfield, is like trying to find a 20 goal a season striker, invariably players with the requisite skill set are playing for clubs higher up the ladder.
 
The "most tav like player" in the youth system is probably Isaac Fletcher, currently on loan at Scunthorpe in the National League.

There's Kamil Conteh who has some tav like qualities (he's quick and recovers the ball well)...
... but in possession he's more of a Crooks - a little more defensive, and he wants to pass and run forward for the return ball, rather than bringing it forward himself (like Tav did).

Caolan Boyd-Munce is probably the only midfielder who's able to make the "step up"... but in my opinion he's more of a Mowatt (disciplined, keep possession, old fashioned midfielder).

There's also Isiah Cornet, Pharrell Willis and Jack Stott who have played in the same position for the youth team, but they're one or two years behind the above three in my opinion.
