Who do we sign in January to save us then?

We’re doing a very good impression of not being broke. Missed out on a prem loan on deadline day and we were flashing £10m around for another striker.

I think we will sign 5 or 6 in January depending on if Mowett goes back.

One or two on loan, then by the looks of it.. players in the £3m range from outside of the championship.

Phil Jones would probably be the best defensive player in the division if he decided to drop down a level. He’d breeze into our team and lead it, organise it, put some order into it. We’ve got absolutely no chance of getting him.

Seems like we need better players all over the pitch, which is disappointing after last season but that's where we are. At least it means we can be open to looking at a lot of possibilities rather than trying to fill one position and making a panic buy if the one we want cant come

Well I’ve made my prediction of one or two loans to come in and players in the £3m range to come in from outside of the championship.. had to put the ‘typical boro’ spin on it.

I think we’ll do ok in January tbh.. we normally do. Missed out on two signings in the summer which our recruitment should have already looked at, plus we’ve brought in a chief scout since then..
 
We need to get the best out of what we have got. Our signings over the last couple of years and especially this last year don't fill me with any sort of confidence. They either start okay (Giles and Muniz for example) and then their form drops off a cliff or are iffy from the start (Lenihan, Clarke). Steffan is doing better now and Mcgree okay but nothing to warrant being a 3M player. Don't even get me started on Forss and Hoppe - I still can't fathom why we bought these two. I can see Hoppe going back to the USA next summer or soon after. Forss may stay as a bench warmer, which I guess wasn't in his or our plans.
