Who actually wants Wilder sacked?

Obviously the rumours are doing the rounds. Would be interesting to see how many people on the board actually want him sacked. Personally I think the club let Wilder down a bit in the window. He won't be happy with the current state of the squad, particularly the midfield.

He hasn't covered himself in glory with the Burnley debacle and there's no getting away from the fact our form for quite some time has been very poor. The league table doesn't lie (despite what Woodgate said) but for now I would give him more time. He tries to play attacking football and his track record at all the previous clubs he's managed is very good. Based on this I would give him more time.

So would you sack Wilder?
Or would you give him more time?

I still don't get this burnley cr@p. He was never going anywhere, just because he didn't say it instantly doesn't mean he was going. Absolute crap.
Chopping and changing managers every 5 mins does nobody any favours. We are trying to build a NEW identity, he has even said this.
If you think that we where instantly going to win the league you are deluded and have no idea about football, we have near enough a full new set of lads playing together.
The transfer window obviously never helped and maybe for me we have too many loans in. But what's the alternative, sack him and then start all over again? Then when we hit a bad patch sack that manager? And so on?

He needs more time. We need to give him time to mould a team out of what we have got, which is of course a totally different squad from last year as that one got ripped up. He managed to mould a team last year, and has at many clubs, so I am sure he will again. We need to get away from constantly sacking managers as that is holding us back. The turnover of players and the money wasted on recruiting these players to bin them 12 months later is ridiculous.

I want him to stay. I mean apart from anything else who's 'better' and more so available?

He plays a brand of high risk and potentially exciting football. We played some of our best stuff in years last season.

I'm absolutely stunned how it's not transfered into this season. We almost look like a different side with a new manager. I'm hoping it's down to the fact that 12 signings will take time to adjust.

I don’t want him to but I think he should be, 4 wins in 20 is sackable in the extreme.

Not saying the results are acceptable but where are you getting 4 wins in 20 from?

2 wins from 10 this season, with 4 defeats, far from good enough.

4 wins in the last 10 last season, also a fairly poor return when it's mixed with 4 defeats.

So that's 6 wins, 6 draws and 8 defeats in 20.
Not great by any means, don't get me wrong, it's poor, but there's a big difference between 4 and 6 in a sample of that size.

Even if you included the cup match, it's 5 wins from 20.

Sorry I think it was 4 league wins in 19 games league games.

It's 4 in 18, which is really **** and needs improving.

If you go back past to that 19th match, that's when our form was largely great.

If it doesn't improve, he should be gone when the World Cup break comes around, but we're not at that point yet.

God knows how I miscounted but as you say it’s abysmal, I’m a wilder fan and want him to do really well but it just isn’t working. I would try something else before it’s too late.

It depends what Gibson's mindset is to me.

We're nowhere near the point where it's too late to avoid relegation.
We could conceivably be 2 points off the play-offs next week, it's still very early.
Obviously with our current form, we're just as likely to be 5-8 points off, but I don't think there's any imminent risk of relegation just yet.

Wilder still has a year and a half on his contract, so that's probably over a million to pay off if we do end it early, and I'm not sure who we'd bring in.

I'm ambivalent about it at the minute. I don't think he's had the recruitment he was promised. I don't think he'd have taken the job if he knew we'd sell one of his most important players and not replace them while also not signing players good enough to start up front.

I would tend to agree on the long term, needing time to build strategy but that's not what we are doing. Several big loans is an indicator of expecting success now. You can't build with 4 loan players in your starting 11 unless the other 7 are good and the loans are completing the jigsaw. As it is, if you take those 4 players out we are incredibly weak so our squad will need another 10 players next season.

We should either be building, which means developing our own players or we should be going for it and throwing the kitchen sink at it this year. You have to take your chances when they come and I don't think we are doing that with our recruitment.

All of that leads to Wilder not being happy with the club. Players not being happy with Wilder because he's been telling the media how they all aren't good enough and we need better players. Fans not being happy because results have been dreadful.

We're not getting promoted this season, Wilder don't stick around for long if he doesn't get backed so do we accept Wilder won't be with us long term so cut our losses now and bring in someone that will develop players or do we stick it out and keep him until he gets a better offer.

I also don't think he's as good as he thinks he is. His system isn't perfect and I don't think he recognises the weaknesses in it which is a worry because some of it is blatant and he denies it instead of admitting that something needs correcting.
