Where does the James Bond franchise go from here? (spoilers!)

They already mess about with timelines. Daniel Craig's first movie (Casino Royale) was set in the modern day but had the storyline that Bond had just earned his 007 status and this was his first assignment - which obviously didn't follow on from all the previous movies.

It was a reboot, the only strange thing is all the Easter eggs that hint at it being in the same universe.

Like No Time to Die had portraits of previous M's from older Bond films.

I personally don't see a problem with a non white James Bond. Would be odd if it was a woman. You can do a film with Lashana Lynch's character if you want that.
It's just so improbable though. So much so that it would be a nod to virtue signalling and pretending to do the right thing, rather than a believable character

I don't think so. You can in 2021 be a mixed race Swiss-Scot.

Whichever actor would suit the role best should get it. I think Rege Jean Page would be a good fit.

They will re-boot with a new actor in a different timeline as said, I just hope they don't go down the PC route with a Jayne Bond, just go with the character as set up in the Fleming books, and certainly not how they are depicting superman in the new comics.
What would be wrong with a bi sexual bond?

This thing about a black or mixed race bond being virtue signaling is complete b’llx though..

they set bond stories in current time lines, ie of the now and that role in real life is as likely to be filled by a man of any colour skin….

James bond can’t be a woman (transgender may be 😉) but I’d be happy to watch a film with a female 007, the lass in this film had cool glasses 🤓

Not and a commander in the Royal Navy you can't not possible. Apparently that makes me racist. But it's factually accurate

There's absolutely no reason that James Bond couldn't be a person of colour in the modern era.

It would stretch credibility a bit if it was set in the 1950s but I'm fully expecting the next one to be in the present.

I don't think they'd shirk away from the potential racial abuse in the plot lines, so I'm not sure what reasons you could have to exclude a non-white James Bond in 2022+ beyond rigidly sticking to a backstory that we've already long since passed.

It's not though. As I pointed out on the previous thread there is only one Person of colour of the same rank in the Royal Navy, and this was in 2016. I don't know their name, or even gender. But I'll put money on them not being half swiss/half scottish and from a wealthy and highly privately educated background.

Reboot of an early bond film, with a young actor I reckon.

or 20 years into the future and his Daughter becomes Bond. (perhaps not)

Who who would be the villain anyway? Blofeld and all of SPECTRE dead too.

Agree that it was a great film and I was also angry at the ending.

It'll definitely be a reboot though.

Craig was an excellent Bond. My favourite was always Brosnan, but Craig is certainly up there.

Just hope they don't ruin 'James Bond' by changing his full character.

Changing 007 is easy and I wouldn't be against that. But changing 'James Bond' would be simply wrong.

Or his girlfriend is already pregnant with his son and he is called James - fanciful I know but after watching Bobby die and then take a shower - anything is possible in the world of film or TV.
