Where does the James Bond franchise go from here? (spoilers!)

I'd left the cinema by that point, so I'm glad you pointed that out.

100% going to be a reboot then, I can't see them trying the codename route as they wouldn't be able to make a clean break from the Craig era.
I only stayed because that plank on Talksport said you have to stay until all the credits have finished as something brilliant happens. Walked out scratching my head and then realised in the car on the way home what he meant. Still wasn’t brilliant mind!

I really enjoyed it. I thought it was one of the better bond films. In comparison to the others I have it in the good/great pile.

Not sure if I agree with this but I did here it described as a film about James Bond, rather than a James bond film. Tbf Skyfall had a lot of that too

watched this 3 days ago in Thailand ... thai language and no subtitles... still got the story fully ... I didnt know the ending at all and was waiting for him to be plucked from the island and wisked away to safety .... it appeared he had died and the end scene when they were having a toast seems to indicate he has gone... had a lump in my throat that they had killed of James Bond ... maybe a few movies of a younger bond with a storyline from his past.... Anyway it was a decent watch even without any subtitles, not a masterpiece but pure Bond movie... noticable the lack of Bond bonking and of any real Bond girls.... one lady helps him for 10 mins but no sexual chemistry .... can see they are trying to be VERY pc .... interesting what happens next

Although I sort of guessed the fate of bond I think the op could have put a spoiler alert on his subject…

I still felt deflated after a good film to see those scenes…

im not sure the film did justice to the baddy though, but with the exception of the first one, they’ve all had megalomaniac issues and felt the need to explain how their kind of evil was what the world needed…

at least le schifre (sp) was just a nasty man with no delusions of what he was…

Saw it last night and I'm just wondering if he really is dead. I know it sounds preposterous but though you saw the missiles coming in and them exploding in front of him, you didn't see him actually blown up or dying...

It'll be a bit dues ex machina if he does survive. They tried to make it as unambigous as possible without actually showing his dead body. I don't think i'd like it if he survived that. it was too much

I think given the content of the conversation he had with the person he was talking to - see no spoilers from me - says what happened.

Well the best 2 Bonds by streets Sean Connery and Roger Moore are both dead too and no one has come even close to them. These days one has to be politically correct so apparently we're having a non-white oo7.
For me James Bond was a bit of a spoof and was played with that touch of humour by SC and RM. Craig was a good third though.

I grew up with Moore and was formerly of the opinion that Connery was the man, but Craig is streets ahead of any of them. He's the only one who looks fit enough and ruthless enough to do the job. I seem to recall Moore once knocking out a bad guy by kicking him up the a**e!

Bond films have hardly been exemplars of continuity. It'll just be a new bond film with a new bond and a Lazenby-like "this never happened to the other guy" nod

What does it matter? There are a lot of non-white people in SIS

Connery yes
Moore was nothing like the Ian Fleming character.
Craig has also nailed it.
