Where does the James Bond franchise go from here? (spoilers!)

So 007 has bought the farm, or so it seems, I wouldnt like to be the script writer for the next Bond movie; how do they circle that square?

Will they borrow a Dallas ruse and decide it was all a dream, did they rebuild him like the Six Million Dollar Man, or did he manage to heroically dodge the fifty-odd warheads that descended on him?

I suspect the answer to that will be either very very good or ver very bad.

I'm going with a younger Bond .. I think it was hinted towards the end but I might be making that up
To be honest Craig was showing his years a bit in NTTD, without taking anything away from him as the standout Bond for me.

A younger Bond in the sense that the new one will preclude this one?

They did say “Bond will return” at the end. I’m praying it’s not some ridiculous half sibling story. Younger Bond, adventures of a navy commander might be worth a watch.

if I’m honest I’m so stunned by the ending I haven’t thought about the future much. Agree with OP this could be genius or disaster

I think they will do similar to what they did with Daniel Craig. Reboot with a young actor at the start of his spy career. On a personal note, I don't think I've ever been so angry walking out of a cinema.

I agree, they're almost certainly going to reboot it again like they did with Craig in the first place, and make no mention of the previous events bar background easter eggs.

I think they'll have the continuity by retaining the same actor for Q and possibly Moneypenny.

Not sure about a reboot or an origin story.
Bond films are big budget and in part rely on product placement.

How are they hoping to get modern day tech. into the storyline if they go back to the 50s/60s?

They will re-boot with a new actor in a different timeline as said, I just hope they don't go down the PC route with a Jayne Bond, just go with the character as set up in the Fleming books, and certainly not how they are depicting superman in the new comics.

Maybe the warheads give him super human powers of stretchyness or he can fly. Or maybe he turns out to be a love child of Dr who and regenerates. Or, and this is my favourite one, his brain is saved and replanted into the body of a bisexual transgender, mixed race Arab body.

I am sooooo excited.

Pretty sure at the end of the credits it said “James Bond will return”, rather than just Bond.

I'd left the cinema by that point, so I'm glad you pointed that out.

100% going to be a reboot then, I can't see them trying the codename route as they wouldn't be able to make a clean break from the Craig era.

I feel your pain, the price of the popcorn these days is extortionate!

Or did you mean the way they killed JB off?

I thought the film was standard Bond, entertaining but I think I was a bit underwhelmed after all the hype.

Surely they won’t go for a female Bond?

On reflection nothing would surprise me….

I’m out if they do.
