Somebody posted the highlights of the Palace v Boro match at Selhurst from 1973-74 early season which we won 3-2. I noted McMordie played in that game. Subsequently he lost his place when Jack finally got the missing piece of the jigsaw by buying Bobby Murdoch.

One of my all time favourite players. So talented. Just a shame there wasn't a place for him with Jacks team.

The b&w picture (of EM with George Best) alone is worth a look. Imo he was never really played to his strength in Stan Anderson's team, let alone Jack Charlton's. He was classy on the pitch and you always got the impression, off the pitch as well.

Used to love watching Eric McMordie, just wishvafter his service at the Boro hecwoukd have tasted one last bit of success with big Jack's team, unfortunately Jack was going down a different route, as mentioned on here & with the 7 appearences for 73-74 & his last wearing the No12 shirt, he only started one game when Murdoch arrived, replacing Murdoch himself, his final appearences was as a sub, replacing Peter Brine, thus the only time he played alongside Bobby Murdoch
