Where are the daily graphs and stats for Covid-19?

Actually, thinking about it, this would suggest that an increasing proportion of hospital admissions have tested positive under Pillar 2 and subsequently become so unwell that they require hospital admission. That would add weight to the argument from local authorities that they require this (Pillar 2) data at a local level, in order to monitor local spread of the virus.

That seems to be what may be happening. Previously hospital admissions were the point for testing. Now, with increased testing, some are subsequently being hospitalised. That's making all positive tests as important as Pillar 1.

I'm not entirely sold on the idea of stopping the briefings as we are still in the pandemic. Maybe scaling them back a bit to once or twice weekly would have been better. As it is, the government can now essentially control any narrative through press statements and carefully coached TV appearances.
While I'm sure there will be lots of people who have never seen these charts, I really do think they provide an insight into the progress and allow for debate.

This is the new website showing coronavirus data.

https://coronavirus-staging.data.gov.uk/

It's in beta version at the moment. You can drill down into each sub-heading and view either graphically or in table format.
I've just looked at the data and the 478 admissions related to 16 June, which was the last day that all four nations produced figures. England have now stopped producing figures but they were getting lower by 28 June.

I can't get that website to open properly on any of my browsers today. I'll take a look through when I'm able.

Didn’t you know we’re all cured now the virus had gone life is back - or that’s what you’d think to see how the govt are reacting.

why are we not getting any briefings At all or direction esp when the likes of leicester is being locked down.

Very interesting! It's not working here now but was fine a few hours ago! The last figure for England was 77 which was lower than the Pillar 1 figures that day.

It looks like the site went down 6 minutes after I checked the data!

They "Got Coronavirus 'done'

We know this because they told us. I think it was because they produced a world beating app.

So, next problem....

176 deaths announced today which is horrendous.
During the period when the Downing Street press briefings were taking place, certainly towards the end of that period, the Minister giving the briefing would normally place great store on where we were that day vs 7 days previously.

Well I can tell you that 7 days ago the deaths of 154 people were announced.

Today's figure is 14% higher than last Wednesday's figure with no obvious anomaly to speak of e.g. bank holiday weekend.

The 7 day rolling average has plateaued at best however it is more likely to be ticking upwards.

This thing isn't going away any time soon.

Working again with some, but not all, updated figures.

Looked through this today.

The notes state that the figures for Scotland are only published weekly (latest set yesterday), so the UK figures only go up the last date they cover. Mind, that doesn't explain why the Northern Ireland figures haven't been published for a while either.

On the relationship between admissions numbers and postive tests, I've looked at admissions as a proportion of both Pillar 1 positive tests and all new cases (i.e. Pillars 1 & 2). Whilst neither appears to have a particularly strong relationship, the standard deviation with Pillar 1 positives is 0.6, whilst with all new cases it is 0.3.

Bearing in mind we're talking about proportions, neither of those is particularly impressive. Still, that does mean there is less of a 'spread' of numbers associated with admissions and all new cases, so a stonger relationship exists between those two variables.
