When will you get the vaccine?

There are. Our GP centre is a shambles. I know two 69 year olds struggling to get vaccinated.
Our local practice is a nightmare to get an appointment, but sh** hot at vaccinations.6 vaccination tables and in and out within minutes. They get all the flu jabs done over 2 Saturdays.

Probably down to the amount of people on each group living in different regions I guess?
You would think that would be factored in to the supplies. May be down to the effectiveness of the local set ups. But would need to get some inside knowledge to explain. Is there a doctor on this board?

I am not in your area. I am group 6 so 55 with health conditions. I was texted on the 15th Feb for a vaccination in 2 days time. Easy to book in and worked very well. Others I know who are older than me in my area were 10 days later. I belive it depends on your GP surgery and whether they have mobile phone records etc. They will get the easy to reach people first while trying to contact the harder to reach people. This is about getting people in quickly rather than working through a list in age order.

My auntie in the Republic of Ireland is 84 with lots of ailments and is still waiting . When my cousin phoned the Doc to enquire the Doc replied she hadn’t had it herself .
The govt ( vaccine element ) and agencies right down to volunteers in the car parks have done really well . I hope when it’s died down Joe public who have assisted are recognised in some way . Proper blitz spirit .

Looking across the water from the US it looks like a decent operation.

Over here they are vaccinating by category, not by age. My staff (teachers) are in category 1B (ie the second group to be vaccinated) but we are all finding it so hard to get appointments (and my plan of getting someone in to school to do mass vaccinations of staff like we do with the flu jab has proven impossible).

Even though I am 63 I was told by relatives to try to book a test online as they were successful. Went on internet last Thursday, put in my NHS number and age. Was expecting a message saying I couldn’t but everything went through and I now have two appointments at Darlo football ground for next Thursday and May 20th! Just go to gov.com and try it. Don’t wait for a letter or a phone call from the Doctors. Seems like they just want to get people vaccinated as soon as possible?

Interesting that you have teachers high up the list.
We are told here that they are not particularly likely to get infected compared to other groups in society.

Not entirely true - it varies by State. I got my first one as soon as NY added over 65s to the eligibility group and had the second 2½ weeks ago. My wife had her first one this week after turning 65.

We've got 65 year old friends who've had both Moderna jabs in PA.
