We were in the relegation zone going into the final game of the 1989/90 season. We needed to get a better result than Bournemouth to stay up.
We beat Newcastle 4-1 at home (the Ian Baird donkey ears game) whilst Bournemouth lost at home to Leeds (who gained promotion and their fans celebrated by wrecking the town).
