When is acceptable to put the tree up?

If it make you happy put it up whenever! It used to be 12 days before xmas.. then two weeks before xmas.. then 1st December.. then after Bonfire night.. now folks are getting twitchy cos Halloween is cancelled and the pubs are al to pot.

26th October get the tree up get the lights on, knock up some mulled wine, have cheese for breakfast.. wish good tidings on your fellow man. Put disputes and arguments aside, phone up family members and watch Die Hard Movies 1 through 5 watch a Netflix series in one go.
Pajamas, slippers cake and fairy lights.. whack bing crosby on your spotify playlist and you're good to go.

Always was 1st Sunday in December when I grew up. I have a 6 year old so I reckon last weekend in November this year. Can't have the advent calendar being opened without the decs up!

Well I guess if you're a Christian or a Consumer any time is fine. If you are an atheist who doesn't worship consumerism either, never would be the answer.

Put the baubles away and spend the couple of hours enjoying your family and making them feel special.

For clarity ours goes up the week before Christmas.

Realistically around the 11th. If it goes up too early then it loses its appeal imho. Just transfer the fake tree to the spare room every January and cover with an old duvet and its ready to go again come December.
:)

Seen a Father Christmas window sticker on Saturday when parking the car. Now that is way too early, although I reckon with the year we've had and the winter we're expecting, I wouldn't judge anyone with kids for putting them up earlier than usual. They need something to look forward to.

I might start a drip feed of decorations round the house. Snowflake window stickers on the rear of house first, followed by white fairy lights in a room not visible from the road etc. Get the Christmas vibes going without being too over the top

It's dark nights now, so why not. If you are getting a real tree you might need a replacement though before we even reach December.

Definitely Christmas Eve. Then down on Candlemas (2 Feb).

The Christmas Period is supposed to be the time after the 25th with the Epiphany being the focal point - Jesus being recognised as God (or A God depending on how heathen you want to be (atheists look away now)).

Bringing it further forward is just typical of the Western inability to wait for anything. Reminds me of people not observing the festival of Lockdown.
