When is acceptable to put the tree up?

We're normally somewhere between the 1st-8th Dec, but given how crap this year has been, I'm debating bringing it forwards towards the 20 Nov. Too early?

1st December.

saying that I’ve never known Halloween have so much decoration before. Up to a month in advance this year. Crazy

We normally get around to it about the 20th! 1st week of Dec I would say is OK, 20th Nov is way to early!

i guess it's different if you have kids - we don't and so it just becomes something for the cats to get into, but yeah, if you do have kids go for it - after the disappointment of no proper Halloween or bonfire night, hoying your tree up early isn't going to cause any harm

Sat 21st November ours is going up. It's normally the 1st weekend in December but I'm busy back end of November and early December and lets be honest, people are going to be putting them up earlier than ever this year. If Christmas decorations going up a little bit earlier brings some cheer and excitement to peoples lives at a somewhat miserable time then I'm all for it.

We have a 2 year old who will absolutely love the lights.

It tends to take us a whole weekend as well and my argument is that its pointless to go to all that effort to have them up for 2 weeks.

We have a young son, who to be honest is probably going to cause more chaos than your cats, but I think he'll love the lights. We took him to our local garden centre yesterday and he loved the lights in the Christmas section, though he did keep trying to pull the food off the shelves in the food hall.

That's my thought, normally I wouldn't entertain the idea, but wanted to gauge how socially acceptable it would be this year given everything that has gone on. We only decorate inside, so doesn't take too long (and me and the missus have differing opinions on what is an acceptable amount of decorations).

I do love putting them up, Christmas songs on, pan of mulled wine on the hob. Christmas film afterwards.

We tend to head away for a break on the 28th December and take the tree down before we leave so put the tree up the last week of November to give us a month.
