When do we all think life will go "back to normal" ?

I’ve been signed off work with depression today

I just want a normal when I get to go into an office and sit and do my job surrounded by Colleagues Rather than stuck at home alone not seeing anyone for days on end with no social contact whatsoever

i want a normal when I can go to a football match. Or go into a pub With two mates and not have to sit at three different tables.

I want a normal when I don’t have to look like an alien from doctor who when I go Food shopping. I have massive anxiety about wearing a mask I have always been self conscious. I’m at the stage now when I get stressed running out of bread or milk.

I want my old life back. This whole F***ing **** show is eating away at me.

It's a strange one. We are very lucky here in that we can mix and mingle, everything is open, but it's all within our own borders.
We see people on tv going on holiday overseas, and whilst we can move around the country we cant go abroad. It's almost like the rest of the world is getting on with its life and passing us by.
But then again we have fans at sports events, we can go out without masks and life is virtually back to a sort of normal, albeit one within our own borders

Sounds like bliss NZ!! I've always fancied that corner of the world.

Probably at least a year. An effective vaccine is really the only way out. Paradoxically the increase in the R number is probably good from this aspect as the more virus there is about the more accurate we will know how effective a vaccine is. Still, it is scary times for the most vulnerable.
I don't think a vaccine has been Found that quickly. Admittedly a lot more resources are being directed towards this one

I know but in its favour, with advanced technology we have today, compared to in the past and the level of investment I think it is more than possible.

Was at the docs today getting a blood test. Asked about the flu vaccine just about everybody can get this autumn. She said 7000 of the 9000 on their list qualified. But they had no idea how they could deliver that safely to so many people, with all the restrictions that are in place at the moment.
When we get a vaccine it will be the delivery that will take the time. Remember the whole world is our bubble, smallpox was eradicated by a vaccine but it took years to do that.
Another question to be answered is how long will the immunity from the vaccine last
I hope everything goes smoothly and we begin to see "the new normal" Sept/ Oct 2021.

Oh we have 'castles', or a castle too! Down in Dunedin, old name for Edinburgh

How easy/difficult is it for someone to up sticks and start a new life in NZ? Is there a point system? Do you need to be sponsored? Can you retire on a lump sum? Etc etc.

Do you remember 9/11?

Vaccines will be helpful but I'm fairly sure now that normality will return anyway. It's name is Novel Coronavirus etc .... it's no longer novel. Medics have learned better treatment already. We have all changed the way we interact.... but we'll be back to giving our loved ones a hug soon enough.

Wait till your borders open up - Australia thought they were doing well a few months ago and look what's happening now - terrible... i have an extremely old relative in Melbourne.... awful times for them all

Keep talking, even if it's just with us in here. People are there for you.

Yes it's a points based immigration system, although if you are in the critical skills area you do get extra points, my wife is a nurse so we really got in on her. You dont need a job to come to, but it helps.
House prices have gone up massively, and it is a very expensive place to live, much more so than the UK. Having said that, here the onus is not on how much you earn, wgmhere you live or what you drive, but getting the most out of life.
