When did we last score 5?

Just got a feeling……

was it Posh, a couple of years ago, when we scored 5 in the second half?

To be honest we've really struggled to score 3s 4s or 5s. I'm pretty sure sky said a stat last year along the lines of We'd scored 116 goals in 106 games at the Riverside (something like that).

That's shocking 😂

That said I'm starting to also get a vibe that teams will get pumped under Wilder. A quick fire double with the high press and teams could be blown away.

The thing about Reading is they are devoid of any confidence and loads of injuries. So don't give them a boost by letting them go ahead.

Hopefully the new lads will be a bit more prolific, some of the chances we miss are ridiculous.

Chris Wilder’s press conference comments yesterday should ring in the players ears
Beware complacency and arrogance. Football has a funny way of biting you in the rear.
Absolutely, complacency is a dangerous thing…
Reading on their day can beat us especially with Carroll up top!
Think about it as well
Boro have had our momentum stuttered by Covid and the cup and training disruptions and we are unsure if everyone is available (the regular first 11) therefore there is a case for a disjointed display today by Boro….
Sincerely hope they prove me wrong because I’m as excited as anyone but you all know that the championship is so unpredictable and you can be brought back down to earth very quickly!

Agreed. As a Boro fan of long standing disappointments I expect the worse. It is in my DNA unfortunately. Frankly I’d be delighted with a 1-0 win.
Totally agree. I’d have my nerves frazzled by a 1-0 win but I’d snap your hand off right now for it !

Same here Cardiff..I can just see me at 4.50pm…‘Typical Boro, every time we think we are going places, they let us down big time’ 😁

we need a win, dont mind if it is 1-0, as we have tough few games coming up. Blackburn in particular

My second ever game at Ayresome Park was a 5 nil drubbing of Peterborough in Robbo's promotion season. Might have even been this time of year, maybe this is the game all those half-chances fly in. William Hill take a pound of my money, please.

I’d love to get 3+ goals against a team, but for whatever reason it never happens for us. I mean we haven’t scored more than 2 all season and it leaves us on edge all game (maybe that’s a good thing). But we are long overdue putting a team to the sword

Thrashing teams is overrated.

If Promotion takes around 25 victories, about 15 of them will be by 1 goal.

Leicester were the last team to really smash the division, and they had 17 or 18 1 goal victories.

Consistency, not big hits, is how it's done.
very true, but you want to have 1 or 2 big wins a season. This team creates chances and is tight at the back, we just really struggle to put it in the onion bag consistently and we have to look at that Reading side and see it as an opportunity for a more than 1 or 2 goals. Without being complacent or arrogant, even Readings own fans are predicting 3 or 4 goals against.

They are such a scratch defence and with our new forwards coming in and proper competition up front, we would hope they want to get off to a great start

Didn't they have three midfielders and a kid playing at the back when they beat us away?

I seem to recall that was a scratch side we expected to put to bed easily.

We'll need a few, Carroll is nailed on to notch one.

He'll be a handful for Fry. But I'm confident he'll keep him quiet..
