Us fans were saying Robbiw who!
Did Toddy when watching him realise what a player hecwas thinking of signing
On hearing we had signed Mustoe I remember going home & dialing the Boro fans line to get all the latest Boro update which included the latest on the signing of Robbie
Now we knew & were excited with the signing of John Hendrie, with his duels against the mighty Boro when playing for Bradford in our awesome playoff season, a young, tricky Scottish winger who we were buying in his prime, another goalscoring legend in John Wark, which unfortunately didn't work out, but Robbie
10 years of excellent service from Mustoe, many, many solid performances & some top drawer goals, who remembers that 10 game losing run we were on in 1995, coinciding with Robbie being out throughout then on his return away to Coventry we stopped the defeats with a credible 0-0 draw, Mustoe was back
I don't think Toddy, or Bryan Robson, knew how good Mustoe was, IMHO, the best way I can describe Robbie Mustoes time at the mighty Boro is Bryan Robson had millions to spend & buy who he wanted around the world to try & make Boro a force in the game & what seemed with the influx of World class players & top internationals arriving at the Boro, all the millions spent Robbies role in the team was never in doubt & probably one of the 1st names on any managers teamsheet
Great Boro player
