When awaydays were like this 😃

Went to our 1975 FAC QF away to Birmingham in the back of a blue van

Sat on the wheel arch all the way, 3 of us were 14, the others in the back, about, 7 others were 18 plus, with a driver & 2 sat in the passanger seat

The older ones were drinking all the way to St Andrews with one of them wearing a 3 piece suit, minus a tie mind, when we arrived at the St Andrews car park one lad stood up & was sick all over the lad with a suit on

Broke down on the way

My 1st big cup upset, still rankles with me that game, big John, Stuey Boam, Willie Maddren running out at wembley, if only

I remember seeing a similar van open up in a car park at Ferrybridge service station around 1990 and about 18 young blokes staggered out they had been stood up from Blackburn area and were going to Hull. Boro fans by then had turned to hiring cars and getting 5 in. Car hire was quite cheap then, more comfortable and faster.

Spent a good few trips in backs of vans with no windows, happy days.

This pic has been on quite a few Facebook groups over the years, it is apparently Ipswich on the way to a FA Cup match at Millwall.

Probably correct. XBJ is a Suffolk registration plate.
Although the bus looks like GHN which is a Darlington plate.

We went to the Notts County game in Luton van from saltersgill. 18 in the back and 3 in the front. The police officer who stopped us near the ground due to the singing in the back was gobsmacked when we lifted the back 😁

The photograph looks like Spurs fans going to maybe West Ham around 1976.

My reasons:

The van is 1974/5 registered.

The haircuts look pre-Punk

The trousers are flared

Bus 66 is possibly Leytonstone area.

The scarf looks navy blue and white

The fans are from differing racial backgrounds suggesting its a metropolitan team they support (from that period).
