Whats your experience of car sales people

Honda off Concord Way Stockton, purchased the last 3 Jazz's for the misses on Honda Finance and agreed value px. Always polite, efficient and seamless. Same salesman too I've never accepted their initial price and always look for a discount and get it.
Now I did once go with my little one with a low value runaround to see what they would give as px late in the afternoon quite a few years back. This was prior to the later purchases. After being ignored for quite some time. I approached one of the two guys stood outside ignoring me and told them they'd lost the potential sale of a new car, the look on their faces. No offer of help or anything, crazy. I did get a good deal at a Honda dealership in Northallerton that time. They closed and being impressed with the cars returned to Stockton and found a totally different approach by the sales team, not the same guys I'd met before either.
That area seems to have the best car salesman. Even the Mercedes Benz garage treat me well. Have bought a couple of cars from that little cluster of garages and had good experiences at Jennings (yes, I know…) Mercedes and Porsche even though I don’t buy at the last one. Maybe other dealers should be sent here for training?

I think that a lot of them are there to negotiate finance terms only with the PCP/lease boom over the past decade.

Surely 90% of customers are in the garage because they've seen a particular car online and want to see it in person.

My experiences make me chuckle. A lot of what they think are techniques are now anachronisms which customers just roll their eyes at. The invisible manager in the office who has to ok every decision. The checking on a discount which takes the same time as a kettle to boil. Then you have the Stratsone Newcastle staff who sell you a car by ignoring you. Their Google reviews are rather funny.

I had a mate in Cyprus and before he left he wanted a new car. Straight to the local dealer and said 'SELL me that car, I want that car' if you cannot SELL it to me then I won't buy it and will go elsewhere. Luckily the dealer knew his stuff and my mate bought it.
TBF it sounds like your mate was buying it no matter what! 😬

Personally, don’t give a ****. When I buy something it’s because I want it. I am oblivious as to the person selling me it. One of the reasons I love internet shopping, no waffle. Have in mind why you want to buy, the price you are prepared to live with, everything else is just noise.

I went to look at an Audi A3 years ago at one of the independents around Mandale Triangle. I could see that the car had previous accident damage as the silver paint didn’t match. I was in a budget and the car was cheap for what it was, so I asked the guy if it had been HPI checked and did he know what the extent of the accident damage was. “ it’s never been in an accident” he said. “It’s 2 different colours” I told him and showed him the difference. He just looked a the car, looked at me , then said “don’t fkkin buy it then” and he walked away.
