What's the difference between new posts and what's new?

New posts shows only new contributions to discussion threads. What's new includes any kind of new content. On this board there's only one other thing, new profile posts.
On other forums using the same software there are also new 'resources' (basically, files - but we don't have that option here).

New posts made on a person's profile page. If you have a look at What's new, you can see for yourself.
I'm still not really understanding the difference and how the separate 3 things work
On this board there are only two things on the What's New page: Latest posts and Latest profile posts. Latest posts are recent posts made as part of an ongoing discussion thread that appears on the Main Forum, Latest profile posts are recent posts made on a person's individual profile page.
I don't know how to explain it any more clearly than that.
Once again, if you actually look at the What's New page, you should be able to see the difference.
