Whatever happened to food in nightclubs?

They were selling Subway sandwiches in the Arena in the 00s up until about 6am.
People didn't have to chew because their jaws were swinging about so much.

Other than that I don't remember any other clubs selling food in the 00s. Rat burger van parked on Albert Road or a takeaway

I was just about to say the same - I'm 36 and I've never seen any food in nightclubs - it was the rat burger van for me too.

in my prime nightclub era of mid 90s to mid 00's i don't recall anywhere selling food, other than the millenium which i only went to a couple of times (think they had a burger place?).

In the Kirk you could get all sorts of stuff, steaks, burgers etc.

I'm not sure about the others, by the time I was working full time (at 20) I was too old for the Inn Cognito, Marimba, Tito's etc

You could get a bite to eat in the Fiesta if I remember rightly.

At one time didn't clubs have to sell food to be licenced as a nightclub?
Yes but this can be as simple as having a portion of curry in the fridge - the arena had scant facilities so they had a microwave in the back and a fridge with 2 ready meals. Don't think anyone ever bought it, no idea how it would work with food hygiene, presume not still required but don't know.

I remember in the madison they used to sell hotdogs and burgers

Millennium did food I think.

Didn’t they have fair ground rides as well? Or was i just off my t!ts
Yeah they did, I remember the safety harness coming out of the seat belt socket mid ride, last time I gave that a go!

This brings back memories.

That burger van outside Absolute/Onyx was grim.

I remember the back room downstairs in Arena doing some sort of food. Couldn't stay in there for long due to the smell of Poppers

Nightclubs? Do they even still exist? My niece goes to 'raves' that are fully endorsed/legal but are usually in legitimate warehouses etc. I'm not sure the likes of Millennium are still a thing?

Only went there once and was off my nut as well.
Had to walk home as well cos I lost my wallet. I remember crossing that bridge over the A19 and jogging through Whinney Banks. Can still hear the birds tweeting now as I type this.
I used to go to Millennium a lot but I never used to get totally out of it as it was rough as ****.

Reminds me of a night I had in the Arena though, no idea what happened after about 11pm but I do vaguely remember waking up (from a deep sleep) in the small hours, in the middle of the roundabout between Newport Bridge and Portrack. Thankfully it was summer.

The nightclub at the side of Lake Windermere in Bowness sold pies. Magnificent after a beer or many.
