What vinyl have you bought recently / dusting off for a play?

Yeah they’re great, I caught them supporting Sum 41 first and then SD last year. Got a show of them and Simple Plan later in the year, (yes I like Simple Plan, not ashamed haha).
saw simple plan support offspring last year, they were decent. I've got their signed box set too which absolutely hammered me on import fees

think the only thing it's missing is their recent release

Yeah that’s when I saw them too, and they were better than Offspring to be honest.
Offspring still the exact same stage banter they were doing 25 years ago. And the medley of Ozzy covers is terrible, they don’t play enough songs as it is without wasting 10-15 mins on that!

i think at this stage they're basically putting on a "classic offspring" stage show - majority of their set is the old stuff or the covers

i don't mind a few covers, same with sum41 in their final tour, but there was definitely too many and the stop during bad habit was really annoying

easily some songs i'd have traded in for those though

I don’t mind greatest hits sets, infact generally i prefer them rather than heavily playing from a new album. But 5 covers is ridiculous!
I loved the Sum 41 final tour, hadn’t seen them since All Killer No Filler tour and I was really surprised how good they were.

Something for the weekend.
Red Sunset, by NZ singer/songwriter Bic Runga. (Bic, pronounced Bec), is very good and I'd recommend giving her a listen.
And Lovely Crreatures, triple Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds best of.
Nick Cave had another excellent Kiwi singer/songwriter Aldous Harding as his support when he played here last month.

Not on vinyl, although I have plenty of his albums on vinyl, but been listening to a lot(in fact nearly all) of Phil Ochs. The man was a genius and so many of his songs are so relevant today over 50 years later for some of them. Especially pertinent with whats going on with Trump atm.

Bee giving the new Gorillaz album a spin and I’m eagerly awaiting the arrival of Help 2 - War Child
Think I’ll go get the War Child album later as listened to it earlier and loved almost every song (even Last Dinner Party who I cannot stand normally).
But I’ll have to decide as I also want Morrissey and only taking one.

My previous love for Morrissey has definitely waned with his antics over the last few years and that new single may have terminally ended the relationship I'm afraid.

I agree. I went to see him last week, so I could tuck him off the list, and nearly commuted when he proclaimed ‘the next song is for the most oppressed people in the world right now, of which I’m one of them’…..ffs, yes white middle class people are unable to do anything aren’t they!

seeing less than jake and the aquabats tonight in leeds. really annoying as o2 venues don't allow bags bigger than a4, but artists happy to sign vinyl, so you've then got to hold it the entire gig (6pm-11pm as 4x acts) and have no protection for it in the rain?

I don’t care about any of that, it’s just music for me. I don’t know a lot about his antics over the last few years but I like his new album.

That Gillian Welch album is incredible. Revival (rightly) gets the plaudits but Soul Journey is right up there.

Might pick up the new Help compilation tomorrow, looks interesting.
Totally agree. Got most of her stuff on CD so was delighted to get Soul Journey on vinyl.
And here are my Saturday morning flea market scores. It's another example of patience paying off.
Guy had boxes and boxes of vinyl, after an hour of trawling thru hundreds of albums, with it all dross. I finally found a couple I'd want. Both play great.
Ian Dury and the Blockheads and a Tricky with Grease white label 12inch.

It was the wife's birthday yesterday so we all headed to Coco and Rum for a meal yesterday lunchtime. As there's the record shop opposite you just have to nip in when you're there.
