Middlesbrough Mela presents Family Day at Albert Park this Sunday - here's everything you need to know to plan your day.

Family Day is part of Middlesbrough Mela's scaled-down offer this year.

The event will run from 11am to 6pm this Sunday, August 8 at Albert Park.

The programme includes a variety of fun workshops and performances including dhol drumming, yoga, capoeira and hula hooping, as well as street food, immersive experiences for younger children and a small funfair.

At the Rock Showman tent of wonders, families can learn to identify fossils and understand the stories told by local rocks. The perfect activity for budding geologists and palaeontologists.

Everyone's favourite Mela characters, the Melephant and Disco Peacock, will also be walking around the park.

Due to the pandemic, there will not be a main stage or bazaar this year, and visitors are encouraged to take a lateral flow test before attending and maintain social distancing where possible.

Middlesbrough Mela is hosting two additional scaled down events for 2021.

Sports in Albert Park is running until Friday, August 27, offering supervised activities like tennis, yoga and skating every Monday to Friday.

Fans of comedy will love Curry on Comedy at Middlesbrough Town Hall on Sunday, August 22.

Presented by Kash Patel Productions in association with Middlesbrough Mela, the one-off night features Shazia Mirza, Tommy Sandhu, Kane Brown and Tez Ilyas.

I don't think you will find that problem this year - there will be substantially less food stalls this year - I believe the stalls will be more the kind of thing you might see at Orange Pip Market.
