What odds on a Haaland hatick today

Apparently touched the ball 8 times in the match. Then subbed😂

I think it will take them a few months to get on the same wavelength. It's completely different to Dortmund playing him through. City tend to 'p*ss about' side to side.

Think he will be more devastating away from home where he will get more room behind defences. At the Etihad the opposition tend to string 6 and 7 defenders across the park.

Still managed an assist.

I went to the game. Thought I'd see what it was feel what it was like to be a supporter of a globally successful team.

Here's my reflections...

The absolute iron grip Pep has on the team! I’ve heard it said that the time of the great player is over; this is the time of great coaches and watching City that really came across. Perhaps Ronaldo is the last great player - someone who wants to do what he wants to do rather than follow instruction?

On that, Foden looked liked the most coached player I’ve ever seen. He follows instruction to the letter, a coaches dream; I also got a strong sense that he can do no wrong in the eyes of the supporters. Local lad, fair enough. I didn’t know Bernado Silva was that good, his ball carrying in the final third was really impressive as was Mahrez’ touch, Stones composure and KDB’s positioning (does he always look so unfit).

Because I follow a club who never really know they’re going to win, it’s weird to be in a ground that expects it. It felt more like ritual slaughter of Palace rather than a football match, a cat toying with a mouse. Even at 2-0, my boy and I said to each other Man City will win by one or two. It felt kinda inevitable. It felt like some of the jeopardy was missing. That’s not to say we didn’t enjoy it.

The supporters around us were great too - just like Boro supporters, there for laugh, knowledgeable and diverse. Great to see so many dyed-in-the-wool supporters: old folks who’ve clearly been there for a while and been taken along for this incredible ride your all on.

Finally, my boy and I were talking about Haaland and I was saying ‘He’s a lump. He’s a Championship striker. His touch is awful.’ 30 minutes later, he’d scored three and won the game.

Football, it makes fools of us all.

Another goal and yet another mile stone record broken

Fastest to 26 goals in 20 games.

*In a Premier League season.

Obviously still a phenomenal record, but I was constantly correcting all over social media when it came to Mitrovic's "record" last season, so I'll have to do it here too 😅

Dixie Dean scored 33 in his first 20 games in 1927/28, all league matches.
