What happened to Beat Surrender?

I used to listen to this on BBC Tees when I got home from the games on Saturday, cracking few hours of tunes. Has it been taken off air?

No not Bob Fischer, it was on before that between 6 and 8 hosted by Nick Roberts. It was a great couple of hours of rock, punk, ska, indie from the 70's to the 90's. Now it seems to have been replaced by some terrible modern bland music show. Maybe this is my time to rant about " why should I even pay for my T.V licence" ha.

Yeah, I thought that too. Used to be a great listen on the long drive home after a home match. Any idea where it's gone?

Its not Beat Surrender anymore. The shows now called Upload. The playlist is similar but incorporates more current indie type stuff.

When I was listening on BBC Newcastle yesterday they kept saying "This is Beat Surrender" so it does still exist on BBC Newcastle.
 
Yes came back to Radio Newcastle this summer listed as "evening on radio newcastle" saturdays at 6pm. Was just off for a week due to a Saturday evening match.

Brilliant, loved that time on Tees, use to listen tobitcreguarly after away games, nights at work were enjoyable listening to the final hour👍
 
Im subscribed to "evenings on BBC Radio Newcastle" on the sounds App. It looks like Beat surrender is now broadcast under that banner rather than as a show in its own right.
Been listening to Beat surrender for a few years now a great mix of music and always a good download .. Makes me feel my age though sometimes..
 
I wish they would bring it back to BBC Tees, i usually listen to it whilst driving but i cant get BBC Radio Newcastle in my car, i only have FM and it doesn't pick it up.
 
Maybe write to BBC Radio Tees. They probably have no idea people feel strongly about this.
Rianne Thompson broadcasts on that slot on BBC Radio Tees now doesn't she, before her BBC Introducing show. She has waited patiently for a decent go on Tees, a bright new talent from the region.
