What do you dislike about Christmas?

I hate UK Christmas. Only had 2 in the last 20 years as I head off to the sun for 4 weeks. Cape Town is stunning, Thailand is fun and Goa (paradise in a dustbin) is cheap and the weather is fantastic. That Covid Christmas was so depressing.

The washing up.

I'd rather cook the dinner. Can always have a couple of beers while cooking the dinner.

As a child my mum always made out it was this herculean effort making Christmas dinner as she stressed her way through most of the day.

As an adult I now realise it's only really as difficult as you want it to be. The washing up on the other hand.....

I realise now my dad was the true hero, working his way through a mountain of pots while stuffed and inebriated.

Never had an enjoyable Xmas( relaxed ) and happy until.i was 28 and backpacking , followed up by 2 more years of enjoyable Xmas while in Aus and NZ, next one was in Morocco in my mid 30's, then again in 2019 when I was walking a winter Camino de Santiago.
Unfortunately for me and my family I just associate Xmas with stress and arguments. New years Eve is my preferred time. Apart from 2019 I have volunteered to work xmas since 2015, I have Xmas off this year, for some reason I wanted it off. I have been invited a couple of places but I'm not sure. There is a senior man who gets on the bus sometimes as me from my stop who has had led a very interesting life, I have had some wine evenings with him, I asked him what he was doing for Xmas and he didn't answer, I said im probably on my own and cooking a meal if he wanted to combine efforts, he responded by text that evening. I'm cool on my own but I guess my good deed will probably go be cooking a meal for me and at least one other, which I will enjoy, I used to be a chef.
