What do I need to look for in a new TV

I've got a Philips with Ambilight, love it. It really does help with watching in a darkened room. Yeah it's not as good as an OLED at blacks but for £500 ish I preferred it to any of the Samsung or LG panels I looked at. I looked at the Sony tellies (and I'm a big Sony buyer) the ambilight is not for everyone but if you like it, it does enhance the watching experience.

I got the one with the Android OS which was a bit more but it does give you more flexibility.

Ambilights read the colour content around the edges and use LED’s to project the same colours into the wall behind them. It’s not for everyone but I like the effect. I don’t like Philips TVs so I use a hue sync box as I already had hue lights in the living room.

I love our ambilights and have in every bulb in the house.. Not keen on the syncing but might be F***ing with music at a party

We use sync apps when we have people over. I also use it for gaming, and for when I do spin classes. I do like the effect on tv for movies / tv shows, but it’s not for everyone and requires careful setup (if you don’t have it built into tv)

Never thought about it for gaming before.. Will try that thanks. I love our Philips TV to be honest and hated the Panasonic before that. 3 sided ambilight I did think was a gimmick, but I would buy the Philips just for that now.. 😁
