What are your thoughts on Elton John?

Some of his early stuff is very good, some not so good. A great "showman" you don't get to fill stadiums for decades without being able to put on a show. Tumbleweed Connection is (from memory) good in patches. I still have Goodbye Yellow Brick Road somewhere and that is a very good album with hardly a duff track (yes, the tiresome "Candle in the Wind" is on there but pre the dead princess re-write/interpretation held up). His later stuff is the odd good track among a morass of mediocrity.
I liked the Tumbleweed Connection album.

There aren't many artists that I really dislike. Elton John would be prominent on that list.
I think he has a horrible voice.
He also really really gives me the creeps almost in the way that Jimmy Saville did.

I'm not a fan at all but at 10am walking through the Parkway Centre, they were playing Bennie and the jets. That song is genius and may have had a little foot shuffle while it was on. I did get 1 odd look, but who cares

I'm not a massive fan of many bands/singers in particular but will admit to a tune being a "banger" even if released by someone I've previously had no time for...and it's fair to say Elton John has had some absolute tunes over the years....along side some absolute dross ones too.
