What are we all reading?

I'm a big fan of sword & sorcery fantasy epics (David Gemma, Robert Jordan, George Martin) . Anybody got any recommendations?

It's kind of stating the obvious but as you've not mentioned it "the name of the wind" is an absolute must. One of the best books of any genre I've read (although Rothfuss appears to be suffering from George Martin writer's block, we've been waiting for the last book in the trilogy for years).

Brandon Sanderson is also very good. The Stormlight Archive being his main series. It is very much an epic.

I re-read Stephen Donaldson's stuff fairly recently for the first time since I was a teenager. And Michael Moorcock's Eternal Champion stuff too. Enjoyed them a lot.

Some of the first 'fantasy' stuff I read after binging on Sci-Fi til li couldn't find anything to read in the genre in the local libraries etc. Also read Terry Brooks Shannara series, Anne McCaffrey and the Dragonquest etc stuff, and of course the later Conan books.

Fall of Giants - Ken Follet, set around and during World War 1, looking at the Ukraine problem nothing much has changed unfortunately.
Like Ken Follett, I've got his pillars if the earth series. Have to look out for that, need something to read on the plane, in 2 weeks time!!!!

Night Manager- John Le Carre, worth a look, was a TV series a few years a go.
Another one from John Le Carre - Our Game.
Read Tinker Tailer about 10 years ago and am now almost through all his books (approx 30). Got a couple left.

I’m certainly enjoying the Fall of Giants so would recommend it, apparently it’s the first of a trilogy so I will need to get the other two now..

I love Le Carre books, but Jeez they do take some reading. I regularly have to backtrack or look at the character descriptions sometimes given at the start of the book. I'll probably take one on my upcoming holiday.
