What are Italy and Germany doing right...

... that Spain, France and the UK aren’t doing?

They seem not to be starting a second wave as of yet, so they’re obviously handling it in a much better way than we are.

I heard something about them getting their track and trace system up and running pretty sharpish and focussing on that.
It’s also a more decentralised and regional based system, which many experts in the U.K. were crying out for right at the start....

German efficiency might help.
As for Italy, I'm guessing that being hit so hard initially might have focused their efforts.
Not sure you can say the same for our government.

Rome was hardly hit in the first wave so, yes, very interesting. What have they done right?

I've just had a week in Italy, covid is taken much more seriously. You had to have a surgical standard mask on the plane going there for starters - no diy/fabric face coverings - temp check on arrival at the airport and in most shops/museums/galleries , masks compulsory in most places even open air archaelogical sites and often temp checks too. Masks needed when you're not sat down in bars/restaurants and ppl got an earful everywhere if they weren't wearing a mascherina when they were supposed to . When I arrived in Manchester airport even the border guard's mask didn't cover their nose and no social distancing in baggage area......different mindset completely

Probably following non convoluted rules. All these prats demonstrating in London have been allowed to do it by the Government. You cannot go round your mates or in numbers but you can meet them in the pub, what a load of old tosh.

I wonder if we are looking in the wrong places, schools pretending everything is normal and eat out to spread it are obvious failures, but do we understand why BLM protests, Brighton beach etc didn’t cause a blip in the figures, or do we just shrug and move on.

When we got released from lockdown, not a blip (which could make you question lockdown at all) we all started wearing masks and it didn’t slow anything, and timing wise could be interpreted as making things worse.

iIs it as simple as it doesn’t spread outdoors and social distancing works, because that’s what seemed the most effective. Unfortunately because we change the plan every three days we never get to learn from the effects of the measures we put in place.
