What an awful game so far

Completely agree. Tonight’s win has made me the happiest out of the lot. I didn’t think we were great and to get the 3 points is all that matters especially after that gruelling set of fixtures in the week before hand. I’m delighted tonight I really am.

We'll see much better performances and entertaining games over the course of the season. Tonight was just about finding a way to win.

It always amazes me how some of our "supporters" absolutely cannot wait to crawl out the woodwork when things don't immediately go our way. Some of the comments before we scored are embarrassing.

I genuinely think some people want us to fail, so they can say "see I told you we were *****".
Seven unbeaten, played 4 of the top six, playing together as a team, showing patience character and spirit UTB.

Tell you what, we will see how the papers saw the game.
Britt was rubbish until the goal.
And he was rubbish after it.
Thats not hatred thats telling it as it was.

I agree he wasn’t great but I couldn’t give a **** as long as helps us win football matches with important goals. He did that today and deserves credit for a lovely finish at a pivotal time. This team is going places, we need to get behind our players a bit more I feel.

Spot on fella

Who cares what the papers think, we won 2-0 and never looked like losing.

Every team in this division is papering over some form of crack, if they weren't they wouldn't be in this division.

We are a world away from last season under Woodgate but still people can only moan and expect us to win every game after being 3 goals up in the first 15 minutes.

The score flattered Boro.
It was an appalling game to watch.
Assombalonga took his goal well in fairness but it really was the only good thing he did all night.

Spence again finished well.

Midfield passed the ball about well but couldn’t find that pass to get us going.
Another solid defensive display.
Sky won’t be banging the doors down at the Riverside to get in if this is going to be typical if our home games.

Gawd......I was bored stiff.

The thing is, I see plenty of tight games, where the entertainment is more about the knife edge and relief when you pull it out of the bag.
I also see plenty of games where people on here say "The score flattered us" or "we were lucky to get that". In this case were we ballhooks lucky. Coventry parked the bus and this dictated our approach. We weren't awesome, but we found a way through when it was tricky to do so.

It makes me chuckle when I see seasons such as the two full ones in the Champo under Karanka when for a lot of wins, people (often the same posters every time) would post "We were lucky there. We offered nowt." Disregarding the fact that a team CANNOT be simply lucky and get 10-12 wins on luck alone, it's about a game plan.

I'd say it was a professional performance from us.
They tried to park the bus and frustrate. We just kept at it and were in control.
Morsy provided a quality pass and Brit, who had struggled through the game, provided a quality finish.
Then Browne played the pefect ball to Spence and he finished it off nicely.
A good win and job done.

Easy to play against? Are you sure? I think we are the exact opposite of that.

I think we are becoming difficult to beat once again, but if a team sets out to sit back and frustrate us, and happy to let us have the ball, we have very little in the way to break them down or a plan B. We kind of wait for them to make a mistake, which is ok some of the time, but wont work against the better set up teams.

Assombslonga indeed took his goal well.
But remind me......what else did he do?.
Answers on the back of a first class stamp please.
He got booked, and he skied a ball high and very wide from a free kick first half.
I am no different from anybody else.
I want to see Boro win and do well.

He brings nothing to the party, He looked no different last night to EVERY bloody game he plays.
Armband or no armband.

Do you hate him so much because you can't spell his name?

Britt got the first goal in a tight game.
He did his job last night, it was an excellent finish under pressure.
We are 7th in the league and looking better than we have for a good few years.
Time to get behind the players, the manager and the club.

Neil Warnock is doing a wonderful job in organising and inspiring our squad.
He has in a short time managed to get almost everyone playing to the top of their capabilities and Boro have had some great results despite, or maybe because we have played most ot the top form teams in the league.

Anything is possible this season with Neil Warnock.

I think I finally understand the term bedwetters. If you look at the first 2 pages of the thread they are there in abundance.

you can’t play well every week and and hit of perspective about the squad and we’re we finished last year

I’ve think I’ve seen on another thread that we’re nailed on playoffs too just to go the other extreme

I thought we played well last night - really solid, professional performance with two well taken goals at the end. I think there will be a lot of times this season where we "nick" games (we've done it twice this week), we're simply not set up, nor have the players, to blow teams away.

There will be times when we don't have sufficient creativity to break teams down but if we take a 0-0 from those games it's preferential to a defeat.

Lets get something straight here.
I am 100% a Boro fan and have been since Stan Anderson was manager.
Totally behind this manager too.
I welcomed the signing of Assombalonga but wasn’t sure about the fee then.
Nowadays I don’t care about fee’s if Boro can afford it as they must have thats good for me.
its the quality of the player that I see in the pitch that matters now to me.
Assombalonga has, apart from brief spells shown hisself to be totally out of his depth with regard to basic control, heading ability, aye shooting, and balance.
He needed ti lose weight when he came to give himself a chance to rectify those faults.
He hasn’t, he is a fraud, every manager that he has worked under must have seen that.
Warnock, giving him the captaincy was the last attempt I feel to put that rocket up his backside to get him to perform consistently, and not just score goals.

Its failed and if he is a Boro player come February I would be astounded.

He will go for anything Boro can get.
But I bet you the fee is non disclosed out of embarassment.
