What’s your comment when squared up with a walker

I was contactless before so haven't changed. glad they upped the limit. Hope it stays.

Shops really are stressful places this days. The amount of people ignoring the one way system in Tesco really irritates me. Everyone breaking the rules needs to give their head a shake. I don't know whether it's ignorance or arrogance.

Good example being Harmmersmith bridge. They've done a brilliant job of creating a one way system there. 2m lines painted along the whole way, people going to Barnes on the pathway and people going to Hammersmith on the roadway. The amount of, usually cyclists, that break these rules is beyond me. Why do they think they are above the rules?

Right you mention cyclists as a guy came from behind me gasping and it was a narrow path . My instinct literally made me hold my breath till he was past .

I haven't used cash for over two months. If you'd told me that three months ago I'd never have believed you. I saw a queue for a cash machine the other day and it seemed really weird.

The two metre thing. I really think many people don't know how long two metres is because you see them making some attempt to distance but it's nothing like two metres. Plus there's a lot of stupid and/or ignorant people out there.

Just out of interest guys .

How are you paying for things now. Are you using cash or contactless?

I think I'll probably go along the contactless route when i go out whenever possible.
I have become so reliant on Google Pay that I even bought a new phone to use it on. The fact that you can go over the traditional contactless limit is brilliant when you are doing one big shop a week. I presume Apple Pay is the same for those with iPhones. My old phone was working with it until it suddenly just stopped (at the till in the works cafeteria as it happens and I then had that heartrending moment of thinking I'd forgotten my pin as well to add insult to hunger 😂). No amount of resetting or reinstalling the OS would get NFC functioning again so a new phone was ordered.

I've managed to get my shopping delivered three times in a row now. Managed to book a slot last night for this morning on Tesco, couldn't believe my luck. It almost replicated the feeling of seeing a last minute winner go in for your accumulator.

The thing that gets me is when you are walking toward some people talking either side of a country track 2M apart social distancing, I usually think, here we go... I stop, they clock me, but carry on talking, eventually ones says to me are you coming through? I say I will when I have 2M cheers. One replies we are 2M apart, unable to realise when you are in the middle that they are each 1M from me and I am 1M from 2 people. All it needs is for one of them to move across the track still maintaining their 2M while I pass on the other side. It used to test my tolerance but I treat it as a bit of sport now, always being polite but getting my point made :)

Anyone else noticed a big increase in dog fouling? I have seen many little bags of joy hanging from many a tree branches. If you bother to bag it in the first place, at least take it home or find a bin

Apparently so. From what ive heard it is very tense and strange.Getting on for 11 weeks indoors now. We have started getting shopping delivered and I think its fantastic.

I'll stay here until i have to go out and even then only go to places when they are quiet.
Good job there some folk willing to deliver food to you.

Add to this, forming perfectly distanced queues across the pavement rather than along it, so you can't get past without going too close to at least two people. People really don't think.

Of all the supermarkets I've used, Sainsbury seem to be the best. The aisles are wider than other shops and being quite expensive it keeps the riff-raff out. Down side is it attracts more elderly shoppers who tend to be a little "careless" on the social distancing, rather than just plain ignorant. They also tend to browse rather than just in/out shopping.

I actually managed to get a click & collect from Sainsbury this week. It was excellent and probably what I'll be doing from now on.

Just a bit of help here.
The science puts you at risk if you are closer than 2 metres (probably closer than 1) to a Covid carrier for over 15 mins.
Passing the odd person briefly has zero impact if you follow the hygiene rules.

Unless, maybe, your are really thirsty and decide to drink every droplet of sweat off their face and brow as you pass by.
I think most understand that finny, but it does no harm to remind people that 2m needs to be maintained at all times rather than relying on them to make estimates on the duration of close contact. Close passes on a regular basis will soon become the norm as any road cyclist will tell you.

zero Impact? I would genuinely be surprised at Zero. If people are talking there will be droplets occasionally flying out of their mouths from time to time. I accept the risk is much lower than indoors and if it is just passing, but there is also the fear factor some have. People who have some underlying health conditions or who live with people that do are frightened of taking the virus indoors. I don’t blame them, it affects mental health too.

The litter bugs are the ones most getting my ire up at the moment. My early walk across the local park this morning was strewn with empty bottles, plastic bags, sandwich wrappers and foil trays. And yes the dog poo bags are also around. I trust noone reading this on here is guilty of any of these offences but if you are, you are a lazy terwat.

Good job there some folk willing to deliver food to you.
They are doing a great job as are Posties, parcel deliverers etc.

Without them we would have had to totally depend on friends and family and they have their own problems at this time.

We have been following government guidance on safeguarding so therefore couldnt go out ourselves.

Thanks to all.👍

Two things, first i have more chance of being struck down by a car than catching corona i am never off the road these days.
secondly if there is a queue outside of a shop give it a miss and come back later when it's quieter

Had a lovely stroll along the Tees the other day and must of negotiated 50 or so fellow walkers heading towards me on the path . As you’re approaching each other you ( and probably they ) are planning how to suitably deal with passing one another .

Mindful of social distancing yet not looking like a werewolf with the sun rising upon them and looking like a frenzied alarmist I planned undertaking the task down to the last detail .

Is there a passing point where I can tuck into thats closer to me or them ? If it’s nearer them and they steam past it , my mind immediately alerts me that they abondonly do not cherish life .
My head shoves me into Defcon 2 and then it’s a matter of holding my breath and nodding as we pass , probably with bloated purple cheeks making them more alarmed about me than me them .

If suitably distanced when passing I came out with “ by eck should be over soon “ and other saving grace is the weather “ by lovely innit “ blanketing the unease.

It’s even worse when walking in the same direction and you’re getting closer to them and then your like a Grand Prix driverplanning your pass . If they’re catching on you its easy , you Just stop and pretend to read your phone holding breath till they pass . Onus is on them and they can’t see your cheeks .

Never imagined walking along the Cleveland Way would one day be like planning an army manoeuvre 🤔

A bit off the coronavirus topic, but in regards to walking in general.

I do lots of walking and have done for years, in the spring & summer its excellent as I've got Eston hills out the back so up and down there, great stuff.

My problem is in the winter when I walk about 4 miles on pavements, so I set off from home walk 2 miles then come back. This is fine for a circular route but I like to walk from Eston along the cycle path past Lazenby and towards Wilton Village and the golf course. I get to 2 miles then need to turn round and come back.

This is where the problems start, when I get to my 2 mile marker If someone is walking towards me, I can't just turn round in front of them or they'll think I'm mad or at least a bit odd. So I have to walk past them, I can't turn round after Ive past them or they'll think I'm following them! So I have to walk at least a couple of hundred yards further to give them chance to 'get away'. I can then safely turn around and make my way home. Unless, someone else is now walking towards me and I have to go through the whole process again!

One night I set off for my 4 mile walk and returned home 2 1/2 hours later after walking 9 miles because of this dilemma!!!!!!!!

BTW - The same applies when someone is walking behind you, you can't just turn around . . . . . .

Didn't realise how hard this walking thing is :D
