What’s happened to Crooks?

was listening to talk sport and i think it was darren bent talking about how a player if he plays 3 games in 8 days will struggle to keep the same level of performance playing so many games close together. if you look at that and look at our midfield 3, hell pretty much the whole team. they never rotate. no wonder we get howlers at the back and sloppy in midfield. no depth in the squad. we have a fatigued first 11 and the fresh reserves are still worse than them.
Agreed and I think that out of last nights game and Saturday's, CW has placed more importance on the latter in terms of playing a stronger team and who he rested last night.

I think he was in a purple patch, there is a reason he was playing for Rotherham at 27, he doesn't have the consistency.

Great player to have in the squad and has had a good season, just don't expect his levels to stay that high all the time.
I think that's applicable to a lot of players at this level, otherwise they'd be EPL players.

having the talent is one thing, applying it consistently game-to-game of another.

I like Crooks, he's got a lot of strengths, but you can see he is not on his game at the moment, as are few others too.

agreed, unless they are young and still learning, Crooks is what 27(?) so this is his prime, this is the finished article. Combative, good pro, tactically and technically limited, comes in and out of form, big physical threat, can be the water carrier for more technical players. But you need some of these players in your squad, you just don't want to rely on them without a plan B

He's been good for us this season but his form has dipped recently and he's not been as effective. Could be tiredness, we have not been able to give the midfield trio a rest with Mcgree and Payero out. Hopefully he will get his mojo back soon.

One thing I would say though is he has got to stop making so many reckless challenges. He does pick up too many yellow cards and apart from suspension it can lead to free kicks in dangerous positions as per last night.
