We've accepted a bid of £12m for Tav

Why not? Assuming Forss signs for £2m, that's £2m spent on six players.

As I said, sign Greaves, O'Hare and one of either Jakobsen or Gyokeres, Muniz on loan, a defensive midfielder on loan and our net spend will be virtually £0.
Because we’re heavily in debt (albeit to Gibson) and the chairman will want some money back and ensure we don’t end up in more trouble finically

I'm sure that Tav has been offered to a few clubs already but this was probably the best offer from perhaps the only club. I'm not saying it's a fair price because let's face it he's capable of a lot of bad and good things - which points to inconsistency. Nonetheless, to let both Payero and Tav go within weeks of each other and not have any sort of replacement isn't what the doctor ordered.

Depends what the add ins are. Personally I believe he will be exposed in the Prem (he’s not good enough imo)- Bournemouth will be relegated and he will be sold for about 5 mil.

We have lost a key member of the first team this isn’t spence a player we didn’t really use or miss, this is a 100% certainly in the first 3 names on the team sheet week in week out if he’s fit he starts.

Gone. It’s a devastating move.

I’m trying to think the last time we sold a key team not squad member like this as even bamford wasn’t a regular at that time.

If this i

If this is the case we could have accepted their £10 m offer a month ago and had plenty of time to find a replacement in time for Saturday. It stinks, our recruitment team play another blinder! Wilder keeps using the Saido Mane scenario as to what can happen but at least he left at the end of last season and gave Liverpool time to find a replacement.
Didn't Liverpool spend double on a mane replacement let's see if that happens here, it was a stupid analogy from wilder

Bournemouth as well with there 11000 capacity stadium not much of a move up we will probably see him again next season. :cautious:

What happened to a club making a buyer wait until they have a ready made replacement? Aren't Southampton et al doing that to us? This sends a very poor message to the fans and presumably Chris Wilder at the same time. There also seems to be a deafening silence on Forss actually signing and any of the other additions Wilder believed we were close to.

We don't know any details of this deal do we? Transfers are paid in instalments. Split over several years. Could we be getting a big slice of the fee upfront? Do we get £8 m more for Tav playing 25 Premier appearances etc etc? It will be a massive blow to lose arguably our best player and most consistent and committed. But we simply do not know the terms or how we stand with FFP and what alternatives we now have open to us.

Sky sports says £10m with potential for future add on of £2.5m

Cherries agree fee with Boro for Tavernier

Bournemouth have agreed a fee with Middlesbrough for midfielder Marcus Tavernier.
It’s believed to be £10m with a further £2.5m in add-ons.
Tavernier is heading to the south-coast within the next 24 hours to complete his medical and finalise the move.
Tavernier made 48 appearances scoring five goals last season and is a product of the Middlesbrough academy.
This would become Scott Parker’s third signing this summer.

I personally don't think 12M is bad business. In fact, I think it is pretty decent business for a player who got pelters for half of the season last year. Yes he came on good (just like the rest of the team did), but I don't think he was a standout player in the championship. Our own boro-tinted glasses magnify our players somewhat.

Players come and go. No big deal. This squad will look a lot different on August 31.
It’s only good business if CW sees any of it.
I have my doubts

The hysterical reaction on here is laughable you would have thought we had sold juninho in his prime to the mags. It's been known to the club he was likely to depart all summer. If he wants out there's nothing they can do but reuse the cash for new players which presumably they will have scouted knowing his likely departure.
I agree, that is a pretty slapdash fee though isn't it.

Tomlin was sold for 3.5 million to Bournemouth. That really was a stinking deal. For all parties.

Exactly rob you said it psychologically this is a huge blow I know not just to the fans but how will the other players feel losing a key player like this.

We're down strikers, midfielders and defenders.

We've replaced all but one of the defenders, but we still haven't replaced any of the midfielders or strikers.

Even if we make £25 mil on the two big sales, we're going to struggle to replace Tav and get 1 quality striker in for that amount. That's without taking into account the potential Tav has.

Unless Gibbo is planning on really opening up the chequebook far beyond the cash bought in, I think we can give up on any hope of promotion. We're so far away from even where we were at the end of last season.
