If he didn't extend this season we'd be going into next in the last year or his contract and taking a cut price deal. I think it got said last season he was persuaded to stay for one more go so not a huge surprise if true.

Good luck to him in the Premier League. He deserves a shot at it but will end up back in the Championship next year. £12 million isn’t a million miles from the optimal valuation. Tavernier is a quality player but hasn’t exactly tore up the league with goals or assists.
Is FFP a factor in this? Two players leaving for a combined £24 million might ease any pressure should promotion not happen again.

I hope there is a cunning plan behind this. Realistically as long as we stay in this league there is a price tag in the back of every shirt. I would have hoped this one had a slightly higher number given that we have cashed in on Spence recently without spending big.

Bournemouth!!! Straight back down, rather than a bit of glory going up with us.
I'm absolutely gutted in all honesty, I was hoping he'd stay and improve even more under Wilder, sadly this is what happens when PL comes calling, even if Bournemouth are likely to go down. He goes with my blessing though, been a good servant and always worked hard, loyal to when he could have left last year.
That's now £24 million into the club coffers in up front payments for 2 players we got for free.
I'm hoping there's significant add-ons and sell on fee's for Tav to similar to Spence pushing any deal right up.
Now how do we replace?
No excuses now, we need a top class LCB CM and ST
My choices are Greaves, Armstrong and O'Hare
