Were we that bad?

he's trying to hit the ball too hard, it happens when a striker hasn't had many goals recently. Once he gets one, he'll get plenty
Was a shame about the one that was blocked from the Jones cut back, was on its way in that. Would of done him the world of good.

could easily have won last night and lost to Reading
fine margins as always
general trajectory is excellent so don't get upset at a defeat

I too am bemused at the negativity
First half was rubbish but I thought we did alright at keeping it tight and trying to Nick it 1-0 in the second half.
just p155 poor defending for their goal.
onwards and upwards and let’s stuff cov at the weekend

We were criminally wasting time in the first half, Lumley and the back 3 playing their own game. Not pretty to watch, can only assume it was part of the game plan. If we'd gone at them from the start instead of waiting 45 mins we would have done better

It definetly wasn’t the game plan. That’s why Wilder was extremely frustrated with the slow passing and pondering on the ball.

Last night was always going to happen - We were unlucky, certainly, but now let's see how we bounce back. Hopefully, we'll look back and say that it was all part of the learning curve

The issue that was annoying me last night was that we knocking it across the back three and drawing their forwards on to us to try and create space but the speed we were playing the ball was too slow and the first touches of our midfielders reminded me of the playground jibe - they control it further than I can kick it

says a lot about how far we’ve come, when a 1-0 defeat away at the team 2nd in the league seems like the end of the world to some posters.

I’ve no idea how Blackburn are 2nd btw… I thought they were very average
Yes we should have won. Blackburn didn't have their 20 goal striker playing which may explain part of the reason where they are in the table.

They were physically stronger than us in all area’s, although we had a few chances to win it, early booking for Crooks and he was quiet after that, weak up front, Gallagher for them was a handful for our defence, as he was at the Riverside, midfield not in it, need to improve on Saturday.

Considering we had 9 days rest, i thought the effort levels were lacking and wilder agrees.

Ok 1st half not so good but if that stoppage hadn’t happened then we would have won this game.
Great chances second half.
I thought we were ok tbh.
No we weren't that bad. It was a very tough game I thought - 2 teams quite closely matched. If we had taken our chances then we would have secured the draw that was surely deserved.

First half we were awful - Blackburn had 10 goal attempts to our 1 attempt.

Second half we did better despite conceeding the goal.

But overall Blackburn had 15 goal attempts to our 9 - not outclassed but not good enough.

They were slow at the back because they wanted to play it out but Blackburn had three forwards who did a mid press man for man on our 3 CBs. Made it very risky for our CBs to come out with the ball.

They followed this up with a compact 4 man midfield. Which made it difficult to pass to a CM to turn on the ball.

They made us play it long and we lost the ball with our CFs vs their CBs.

We changed up second half, push Crooks wider on the right when we were in possession in defensive positions, and pinged it to Crooks to knock down to Jones.

goal attempts can be a 30 yard scuffed shot or a two yard header over the bar. When we look at second half we had 2x crooks headers, 2x shots from Connelly from 8-10 yards and a penalty appeal. They had a half chance from a miskick by McNair. We were very much in charge second and half and should have won

Whilst we were disjointed in the first half we never looked like conceding. 2 saves from lumley that he would make over and over again. When we moved forward we were more controlled and did get in behind Blackburn a couple of times.

In the second half we were the better team.

Blackburn didn't deserve to win it, that's true. Not sure we did quite enough to deserve 3 points but didn't deserve to loose.

It's football you take your chances or you loose. We didn't take our chances and the ref denied us a penalty.
