Team wise and results wise? A snapshot from December last year. How far off this league position could we be by December if we all stick together?
Were we as good as we thought we were last season?

Smith, Fry, Lenihan, Jones, Howson, Hackney, McGree, Crooks, Jones snd Forss were all exceptional.. much before we signed those two scamps on loan from villa

The reality is, we were poor at this time last year as well. We sacked Wilder and slowly but surely results picked up. If you look at the game above we still have 8 of that starting team. We scraped a 2:1 result against a team who ended up with 10 men. OK, after Christmas we kicked on and started to score goals for fun with the addition of Archer and Ramsey. The point is, this season has hardly started yet. OK, the results have been poor but we still have most of the squad who did well last year. We have added a lot of new young players who need time to gel. A few wins to boost the confidence and there is no reason we can’t get in the playoff spots again.

I had more faith in Karanka's sides when it came to the crunch tbh, and wasn't surprised when we struggled towards the end of the season or against Cov.
Good to watch though and miles ahead of what we're producing now obviously.
A large part of that was players finding form when we needed them too (and obviously the quality loan players we had)

November-March we were absolutely outstanding. Unfortunately, it doesn’t last forever, and form changes (sometimes drastically). As if anybody needs reminding.

We were, but to put it in terms of squads, even though we have the bulk of them left it's like having a Ferrari on the drive after you sold the wheels and the engine. It looks like it could be good, but the things that made it perform haven't been replaced.
