Well There We Have It, The Easy 'Oven Ready Deal' that Never Was...

It has started. We've left the EU with no trade deal or plan on how to proceed. We've already suffered economic damage, behaved in a way that's trashed our reputation on the world stage and enabled the most catastrophically incompetent government ever.

And that’s the tip of the iceberg. If anything it underplays it. It’s before you even get to talk about non-Brexit stuff like Covid. These are the fuckwits that a lot of people voted for.

Ah, so it was a long term project then. A well thought out 15-20 year plan. You can try and kick the **** can down the road as much as you like. You can try and rewrite history as much as you like. You may even be able to kid yourself that what you’re saying is true. I doubt it though. Deep down, you know it. Anyone with a modicum of sense knows that they were conned. That they voted for unicorns that haven’t materialised because they were promised by a bunch of charlatans, chancers and spivs. If you don’t know it then, unfortunately, you are the stereotype and I make no apologies for pointing it out. You’re either lying to yourself or you’re stupid. Take your pick.

Bless, unfortunately I didn’t vote for brexit on the promise of anything as detailed many times on this board. So your conned analogy just doesnt ring true to me i’m afraid. You should stop trying to think you know what other people think also, its a common occurrence on here, I find it slightly bizarre. Yes the long term with me. As i said more than happy to admit I got it wrong if it pans out that way. You can bleat on at people for the next 15 years if it makes you feel better. I’ll even give you a big pat on the back if you are right. Until then I’ll wait and see thanks 👍

Lying to yourself it is then. You voted for something without the promise of anything and on the vague notion that in 15-20 years it might turn out to be alright. Well done you.

You voted to make yourself (and everyone else) poorer for the next 15-20 years on the hope we "might be better off" after that period of time? For most people that's a significant period of their life you've happily flushed down the toilet.

You're either an utter imbecile, trolling or lying (possibly to yourself) in an attempt to defend a decision that's looking increasingly shocking. I don't think it's the first, so which of the latter two is it?

None. I’ve made no secret that i voted to leave and the reason why. So it would be a poor attempt at trolling. My daughter is 6 so the 15-20 year analogy is see if her life could be better outside of the EU than in when she is an adult. If it turns out that we aren’t i’ll happily say i was wrong. I dont think there is anything wrong with wanting something better than the status quo for your child. If people take offence at that, thats not my issue

I don’t take offence, I just recognise it for the utter horse**** it is.

Never said you did take offence. That’s your opinion which you are entitled too, though incorrect there isn’t much point debating what you believe i am saying vs what i am actually saying

I predict that within your daughter's hopefully long and healthy life we'll be back in the EU having realised it was a mistake to turn our back on our closest trading partner and allies.

Quite possibly. Can’t argue that i was wrong if that happens

"Could be better". At least you admit it's a gamble. Not a gamble I want to take on my kids future (ages 1 and 3). I do know however their opportunities are already limited by the choice to leave. Who knows what impact it'll have on them till the sunlit uplands "might" appear in a couple of decades.

I wouldn't gamble my kids future away. Certainly not on those stakes and certainly not on the promises of the likes of Farage and Johnson. Unfortunately others have taken that gamble on my behalf. You'll understand if that ***** me off a bit.

Totally understand that. I do admit it is a gamble. That is individual choice and every person/parent will view things from a different perspective.

The ironic thing about Cooper claiming his vot was for his daughter, is that she would have voted remain if she was old enough in 2016.

It's exactly the main disgrace that 16 year olds weren't allowed to vote. The vast majority would have voted remain and now at 20 have no say at all.

Trust me you’re not writing in some subtle code. What I believe you are saying and what you are saying are one and the same thing. There is little to debate. It’s an absolutely ludicrous justification and a ridiculous position based on flawed logic.

Erm, it’s because they’re the adults in the room.
Erm, they've had FOUR YEARS and have done everything to try and make an 'example' of us - to deter other members from leaving - time is up.... they should have negotiated when they had the chance - #January1st

Give me an example then.

I didnt vote for that reason. Now i have voted for it I am prepared to see it through to see if it transpires to be the correct decision. After the referendum the reason i voted leave happened so my vote achieved its aim. Following that the reason i am anti another referendum is because I do think their is a chance in the long term this could be better than the status quo. Hence why i still support it, as i said if im wrong, im wrong
