Well There We Have It, The Easy 'Oven Ready Deal' that Never Was...

Did anyone actually expect any different? The lies about our lovely rosy easy deal where pretty translucent.

But it doesn't matter because Brexiteers "won" and remoaners "lost"

And, despite being lied to time and time again, we just have to get over it

The EU have no free trade agreement with Australia, so I guess it's code for no deal.

Basically it's ok for Boris and chums to treat leave voters like idiots (i.e. let's just call it the "Australia" deal. The thickos will think we've done well, they'll never notice) but it's not ok for others to suggest they might not be fully informed. I think that's the general rule isn't it?

Interesting thread this. So much vitriol and not one brexiteer to defend their choice. Who were they and where have they all gone.
My best mate is a brexiteer and his head is still in the clouds i.e, everything will be great just you wait and see.

If only Laura K and the BBC (and all the other media mouthpieces) didn't spend the entire election giving Boris a free ride whilst calling Corbyn an Anti-Semitic traitor to his country we might not be here.

Now you know for certain though, whenever there is a leader like Corbyn and the press go after him like they did, it means he wants to help us.

I really don't get this "Australia terms". All it means is trading under WTO rules - the worst of all possible outcomes.
Its just PR to soften the f*ck up/lie.

It portrays that 'oh well its not that bad, Australia are a fully functioning country and they don't have a deal with the EU either'. Because Boris thinks we're all morons when in fact it is the kettle calling the pot. I suppose his supporters will buy it though.

Once the economics of Covid really hit, poor areas and the people living there will be discarded as not worthy, just like Liverpool under Thatcher and her motion of managed decline for the city.

Fortunately EU money was available which was critical in changing the fortunes, this time round there will be no EU help to assist in any recovery and theses areas are going to be at the mercy of a right wing Tory government and will soon be blamed for their own downfall and all the ill's that beckon and the potential civil unrest.

Thinking about it, they mighy actually be right for once but for a totally different reason, the people actually voted for them and brought it on themselves!

I'll defend my vote for Brexit, but I cannot defend the useless people who represent us that brought us to this position now. Can you imagine if we'd got everything that Boris said in the oven ready deal, he'd be hailed as helping Britain remain an economic power, and there wouldn't be vitriolic comments here like 'thanks Tory voters'. As it is, a theoretical politician, compulsive liar, poon hound and generally nasty man showed himself to be a buffoon, lacking credence and intelligence and he should be called out for it and his lack of ability through leadership to represent the people who voted for his party.

I see they are already pitching the EU bad story, they won't give us the same deal as they gave Canada. Well, Canada doesn't have Northern Ireland, and it also didn't say it was going to break international law in a very specific way. What did BJ, Gove and phuckwits expect when they say and do things like that?

December / January is going to be horrible.

So many people, for so long, tried to point out to Brexit voters that it’s all just a con and they are being strung along with the promise[fantasy] that they are taking back control and will benefit from this, when all along the plan is to leave with no deal so Mogg, Odey and chums get even richer, and they are going to take away our opportunities and erode our standards of living in order to do so.
And then those people have been shouted at - ‘stop calling me thick! I’ll show you, and further more I’ll vote Tory against my best interests to do so!’

I feel sorry for everyone, the brexiteers who have been completely done up like a kipper and the ones who saw the bigger picture and tried to help, but just became the ‘remoaner’ baddies in all this.

All the arguing I’ve done on here and elsewhere and now that it’s actually happening there is no vindication, just contempt, pity and dread. The quoted post here still demonstrates a fundamental lack of understanding. Defending your vote for Brexit and then suggesting that there ever was a deal or that the unicorns promised were ever capable of being delivered is just another symptom of the disease that got us here. This was inevitable. From day one. We all told you over and over again. It was dismissed as Project Fear. And yet here we are: ****ed.

Go on then, we're all listening with great anticipation :)

I’ve been waiting four years for one single reasonable argument that this is of benefit. I’m yet to hear one. It’s not the incompetence of government that has caused this (and they’ve been bloody incompetent), it’s always been inevitable. Always. Because we can’t have our cake and eat it. That’s what it boils down to.
